Sri Yogavashista Saram – Vairagya Prakaranam - 1 – The illusion/Maya causes Samsara Bhramam/interest in worldly matters and bondage - The ignorance is the major cause for the miseries, sorrows, sufferings, illnesses, and afflictions of the worldly existence.

Chapter – 3 – Sri Yogavashista Saram – 21 – 27

Maharishi Vashishta speaks “ Oh! Rama, Athma/soul/Purusha is indestructible, the ignorant Jeeva consider the Dheha/body as Dhehi/soul, and push themselves to grief, pride in the body and I consciousness is the cause for the grief, the body undergoes aging, illnesses and death, surprisingly the soul has neither birth nor death. The Athman/soul is eternal, and Nirllepa, like the ‘space’ inside the Ghata/mud pot diffuses in the air when it breaks, space is Akhanda, remain the same, changeless and eternal. The Bramham has no death or birth, it is eternal, all-pervasive, changeless. The rope mistaken as a serpent causes trepidation in the Jeeva, once the false notion disappears the fear also vanishes, in the same manner, the Samsara is a mere illusion as in the Swapnavastha/state of dreaming that has fleeting nature, Universe is the essence of that all-pervasive Bhramam, there is nothing other than supreme Bhramam, the Maya/illusions causes to witness infinite Nama and Roopa Dhrishya, when the Jeeva get relieved from the illusion, interest in the worldly matters, and attachment to wife, children, companion, relatives etc. all that remains the omnipresent Bhramam. Oh! Ramachandra, the Athman is vast as the sky, it is subtle, pure, unblemished, and auspicious/Shiva, the soul/Athma is Paramathma, it has neither birth nor death. The Universe and it's living and non-living things initiated from that supreme Bhramam with the influence of Maya, all that function in the presence of that all-pervasive Bhrmam, it is Adhimadhyanthi Varjjitham/has neither beginning nor end. The Athman is Paramathma Param Bhrmam has no dual forms, and Shantham/serene. Oh! Rama, if the Jeeva does not strive to achieve the knowledge of ‘self’/Athman, the supreme Bramham resides as the soul in it, and undertake Shamadhamadhi, austerities, observance of celibacy, being in the association of Mahathma and noble souls, I would recommend them to go for begging alms/Bhikshadan to Chandala. The birth as a human is rare to achieve after several births of piousness if it was not utilized to achieve the Paramathma Parambhramam resides as soul, better to walk around with the mud pot seeking alms to Chandalas, human life should not spend in ignorance, therefore the ignorance is the major cause for the miseries, sorrows, sufferings, illnesses, and afflictions of the worldly existence.”
