Sri Vinaya Pathrika – Sri Tulsidas Maharaj – The significance of Bhakti, Gnana, Vairagya – Bhrama Sathyam Jagath Mithya

Chapter -68 -Sri Vinaya Patrika  - The significance of Bhakthi, Gnana, Vairagya – Bhrama Sathyam Jagath Mithya

Sri Tulsidas Maharaj speaks “ Oh! Hari, how did I get freed from the illusion? I have the wrong perception that the Universe and its living and non-living things are Sath/indestructible, I have the wrong perception that all the material matters and people are permanent, pure, and soothing. Oh! Prabho, the eternal truth is that there is nothing permanent in this Universe, neither material matters nor people, even though why I am getting drawn to the fleeting nature of Samsara? Why I am reluctant to leave interest in worldly matters and bondage, Ahamkara and Mamakara, attachment to Shabdha, Sparsha, Roopa, Rasa, Gandha? Why I am compelled to believe that the Universe and its living and non-living things are indestructible, comfortable, and truthful, even though it is utterly unbelievable? Why I am not leaving the interest in worldly matters and bondage, Ahamkara, Mamakara, and the impurities of the mind? Oh! Bhagavan, Bhakti, Gnana, Vairagya is the superior tool to cure the Vishayavisharoopi Samsara, but why I have born greedy and insatiable, always earning for material welfare and bodily pleasures? I think those Sadhaks who are practicing the Bhakti, Gnana, Vairagya also not free from the yearning for worldly matters and bondage. Oh! Prabho, this Samsaroopi night has put everyone to sleep, except the Virakthathma, Bhramajjani, and Athmajjani who have achieved your perpetual grace. Oh! Prabho, I am horrified of my immoral deeds, even after all these you have been so kind to me. The unfortunate Jeeva who has no line of luck drawn on its forehead due to lack of piousness in the previous births spends the whole life yearning for happiness. Oh! Prabho, I have not earned any piousness in the several births, like the person who lacks hands yearning to draw looking at the beautiful portrait. Oh! Prabho, I have not undertaken any Tapasya, Sadhana, Japa, austerities, Swadhyaya, Athmavichra, even though I yearn to achieve the Paramagathi. Oh! Hrishikesh, you are the Lord of Indhriyas, I have great faith in you, I am Tulsidas, drenched in the material matters and people, attached to Shabdha, Roopa, Rasa, Sparsha and, Gandha, kindly remove the impurities and interest in worldly matters and bondage in me.”

Sri Tulsidas Maharaj continues “Oh! Hari, why don’t you remove my false perception and illusion? I have considered the material matters, richness, wealth, money, fame, and attachment to family, children, wife, relatives, and companion are permanent, and whenever they get lost, I hurl myself into deep suffering and distress. Oh! Prabho, the eternal truth is that the Jagath is Mithya and Bhramam is Sathyam.  The supreme Bhramam resides as the soul is indestructible Purusha, pure, unblemished, free from afflictions, eternal, changeless, has neither birth nor death. The Universe and its living and non-living things undergo constant transformation and ruin. Oh! Prabho, I have understood Shareera – Dhan – Puthradhi have impermanent nature/fleeting, are not real. Oh! Prabho, even though, I am not getting detached from the above-mentioned Mayajanitha Ahamkara and Mamakara. I have been fastened myself with the Shareera – Dhan – Puthradhi due to my ignorance and insatiable desire. I have been suffering from the Mayajanitha Moha, like the person who had a dream of extreme body pain getting assistance from the physician, the pain and sufferings continue to be with him until he gets out of sleep, as soon as he awakes all those miseries becomes unreal. In the same manner, the Paramarththa Thaththva/knowledge of self, indestructible Purusha, and the destructible Prakrithi, only remove the sufferings and sorrows of worldly existence. Oh! Prabho, I am suffering from the Mayajanitha Moha illusion, I am confident that the knowledge of Paramarththa of material matters and people have fleeting nature, the Parmathma Paramambhramam resides as a soul in the Jeeva is eternal would remove my Mahamoha. The Veda, scriptures, Santh, Guru, Smrithi strongly recommend that the infinite Nama Roopa Dhrishya in the Universe are illusion/Mithya, and has fleeting nature like in the Swapnavastha/dream, therefore the attachment on the impermanent Prakrithi/material matters and people hurl the Jeeva into constant miseries and sorrow. The liberation from the sorrow and grief of Samsara is impossible unless and until the Jeeva achieve the knowledge of Paramarththa Thaththva, with the practice of Bhakti, Gnana, Vairagya. The Dhukharoopi Samsara hurls the Jeeva into constant miseries and finally into the vicious cycles of rebirth, it is impossible to get rid of the grief of Samsara without the practice of Dhaya, Sathyam, Shaucham, Shama, Dhama, Swadhyaya, Athmavichara, Bhakti, Gnana, and Vairagya. Oh! Tulsidas, the Universe, and its living and non-living things are an illusion, have fleeting nature, and unreal, the ignorant get attached to those infinite Nama Roopa Dhrishya and hurl into the vicious cycles of rebirth, therefore it is certain that it is impossible to get rid of the Mohajanitha Samararoopi Vishyavisha without the devotion at the lotus feet of Raghunath, and association with the Santh, Mahathma, noble-souls and selfless service to them.”
