Sri Vinaya Patrika – Sri Tulsidas Maharaj – Bhrama Sathyam Jagath Mithya - ‘Jeevathma is Paramathma’

Chapter -64 -Sri Vinaya Patrika  - Bhrama Sathyam Jagath Mithya -  ‘Jeevathma is Paramathma’

Sri Tulsidas Maharaj speaks “Oh! Keshav, what shall I speak? I am not able to utter anything. Oh! Hari, after seeing the various states of mind and the nature of living and non-living things, I have understood them as your amusements. Oh! Bhagavan, your Rachana/creation of Universe and its living of non-living things, Samsararoopi portrait, drawn by the painter/ invisible Paramathma Parambhramam Sacchidhanandha Swaroopa, drawn on the wall of Maya/Shoonya without any colors, mere with your Sankalpa. Oh! Prabho, the ordinary portrait can be erased easily, but the portrait of Samsaroopi Chithra of Mahamayavi cannot be erased unless and unless the devotion and love at the lotus feet of Lord Sri Ramachandra. The ordinary portraits are lifeless, have no fear of death or birth, the Jeeva in the Samsaroopi Chithra is constantly alarmed by aging, illness and death. In this Samsararoopi Chithra, there are endless miseries, sorrows, agonies, pain and sufferings, the ordinary portraits are pleasing to eyes, but the Ghoraroopi Samsara creates intense trepidations in the Jeeva. The Mriga Thrishna like Samsara, the presence of water created by the reflection of the Sun in the desert cannot quench the thirst of the Jeeva, although the ignorant Jeeva chases after them and gets disappointed, this Mrigathrishnaroopi Samsara neither quench the thirst nor give serenity.  Surprisingly, the Jeeva chases after the material pleasures, wealth, possession, richness, money, fame, attachment to wife, children, relatives, and companions are nothing but Mrigathrishna, even after battered by the sufferings, pain of separation, loss of wealth and beloved, the Jeeva does not stop chasing for them. Oh! Prabhu, some people call the Universe and its infinite Nama Roopa Dhrishya is Mithya, some people call it real, and some call it the mixture of the both. I Tulsidas strongly oppose them all, and call the Universe and its infinite Nama Roopa Dhrishya are “Bhrama’/illusion, it is the creation of all-pervasive Paramathma Parambhramam and all those Nama Roopa Dhrishya is his amusement, whoever understands this eternal truth would achieve the knowledge of self, the eternal truth is ‘Jeevathma is Paramathma”.

Sri Tulsidas Maharaj continues “Oh! Keshav, Oh! Prabhu, what I did to you? Why did you keep me far from you? What was my sin to abandon? Oh! Bhagavan, if you are feeling I am wicked and sinful, why did you elevate the impure Ajamila, Valmiki Ganika, Gajendra? Or do you have any special relationship with them? Hence it is clear that you are not only beloved of Santh Mahathma noble-souls who sincerely follow the duties prescribed in the Veda, and follow Varnnashrama, and perform religious and spiritual rites, undertake austerities, Shamadhamadhi, Swadhyaya, Athmavichara, etc. You are compassionate and kind to even the Pathitha. Oh! Hari, I am helpless, my Kala/time, Karma/deeds, Sugathi, Dhurgathi etc. is vested in your hands. Oh! Prabho, kindly destroy my Ahamkara and Mamakara, so that I do not chase for material welfare, and attachment to people and wealth, so that I won’t wander all over the world, leaving your Nama Smaran and lotus feet. If you abandon me, it won’t make any difference to me, I promise you, I will always engage in the remembrance and recitation of your sacred names, I have promised to myself that I do not take shelter in anyone other than you if you send me to Swarga or Naraka it won’t make me any difference at all.  Oh! Raghunath, I have an appeal to you, with mind, words, and deeds, Oh! Nath, it was not a wise deed to question your compassion, sometimes I get disappointed to see your callousness, hence I had to make sharp comments on you.”
