Chapter – 135 -Sri Vinaya Patrika – Sharanagathi to achieve Bhakti, Gnana,
Vairagya
Sri Tulsidas Maharaj speaks “Oh! Mind, why
are you wandering all over? Listen to me carefully, as long as you keep
yourself away from the lotus feet of Lord Sri Ramachandra, none of your
Sadhanas, austerities, Yoga, Kriyas performed with selfish motive and mere
show-off, etc. won’t eliminate your grief. The illustrious Sage Shuka proclaims
that Bhagavath Vimukh Kriya/ any rites or practices, and crores of Sadhanas
cannot remove the Thapathraya/Adhidheivik – grief from natural calamities, drought,
famine, flood, epidemic, etc., Adhibhauthik – grief caused by the attachment to
material matters, richness, wealth, fame, possession, people, etc., and Adhyathmik
– grief caused by aging, illnesses, and death. Any Sadhana without the
sincere devotion and faith in supreme Lord Sri Ramachandra is worthless as churning
the water for butter, therefore, the Sadhanas performed while taking pleasure
in the material matters and getting attached to people, wealth, fame, money
etc. Ahamkara, Mamakara, with the impurities of Kama, Krodha, Lobha, Moha,
Madha, and Mathshcharya, will not bring any fruitful results. Oh! Mind, leave
your interest in worldly matters, Ahamkara and Mamakara, interest in Shabdha,
Sparsha, Rasa, Roopa, and Gandha, the addiction to the infinite Nama Roopa
Dhrishya is a mere illusion/unreal/Maya, and take shelter at the lotus feet of
Lord Sri Ramachandra. Oh! Mind, the worship of Lord Sri Ramachandra is
effortless, he resembles the dense wood of virtues, the veneration of lotus
feet of Lord Sri Ramachandra would provide Bhakti, Gnana, Vairagya, Shanthi,
Sukha, and auspiciousness. Oh! Mind, the Shastra, Veda, scriptures, and sacred
texts, illustrious Rishis and Sages, and deities affirm that Jeevathma is
Paramathma, the all-pervasive supreme Bhramam is indestructible Purusha resides
as a soul in the Jeeva and the Prakrithi /infinite Nama Roopa Dhrishya has
fleeting nature, hence abandon the interest in worldly matters/Prapancha and
take shelter at the lotus feet of Lord Sri Ramachandra. Oh! Tulsidas, without
taking shelter at the lotus feet of Lord Sri Ramachandra it is impossible to
achieve his grace, otherwise, the ignorant Jeeva would remain as the cow on the
riverbank of Ganga dies of thirst.”
