Sri Vinaya Pathrika – Sri Tulsidas Maharaj – The significance of Bhakti Gnana and Vairagya

Chapter – 136 -Sri Vinaya Patrika  – The significance of Bhakti, Gnana, Vairagya

Sri Tulsidas Maharaj speaks “Oh! Prabho, the illustrious Sages, Veda, and Puruan affirms that the Jeeva who is Bhagavathvimukh/afar from the practice of devotion, experiences the sufferings of Thapathrya as unbearable, I haven’t taken shelter at your lotus feet, haven’t practiced austerities, Japa or worship of you, I haven’t practiced Bhakti or Vairagya, I have been chasing after material welfare and bodily pleasure. The Jeeva who have achieved Bhakti, Gnana, Vairagya, perceives the Sacchidhanandha Swaroopa Parmathma Parambhramam resides as a soul in the Jeeva, realizes Oneness-in-all, won’t chase after material welfare or bodily pleasure of Mithyaroopi Samsara, like the Hiran/deer takes pleasure in the nectar sitting on the lap of the full moon, does not chase after Mrigathrisha/reflection of the water in the desert. The practice of reading various scriptures, Veda, Vedantha, scriptures and sacred texts, etc. wouldn’t remove the ignorance, it would be like the parrot’s mimicry but understand nothing, parrot tightens the hook by itself, and get caged in all life, never make an effort to get out of the hook. In the same manner, the ignorant Jeeva get fasten to the Vishayavisha like the interest in worldly matters, richness, wealth, money, fame, possession, attachment to wife, children, relatives, companions, etc. with the expectation of happiness out of it pushes the Jeeva into deep distress and grief at the loss of wealth, or separation of the people, sadly even after experiencing several setbacks, the Vishayijeeva do not leave its foolishness in the chase of material welfare and bodily pleasure. Oh! Prabho, I have not earned the Sadhanaroopi wealth such as austerities, Shama, Dhama, Sathyam, Shaucham, Dhaya, Dhanam, Ahimsa, Arjjavam, Bhramcharya, Astheyam, etc. or I haven’t achieved any Siddhi. Oh! Prabho, I haven’t learned Veda and Vedanta, or haven’t practiced Japa and Thapa, or I haven’t practiced the Pranayama/breathe control. Oh! Prabho, Tulsidas has one and only wealth of immense faith on the Karunabhandar/treasure house of mercy Bhagavan Sri Ramachandra, that would remove my Bhavabhaya/sufferings and anguish of Samsara, and liberate from the Janana Marana as well.”
