Sri Vinaya Patrika – Sri Tulsidas Maharaj – Sharanagathi – Tulsi Hai Mero/ ‘Tulasi is mine’

Chapter - 90 -Sri Vinaya Patrika  -  Sharanagathi – Tulsi Hai Mero/  ‘Tulasi is mine’

Sri Tulsidas Maharaj speaks “Oh! Ram, I would like to undertake austerities, Swadhyaya, Shamadhamadhi, etc. Alas! my interest in worldly matters, possession, wealth, richness, fame, money, attachment to family, children, wife, relatives and companions, Shabdha, Sparsha, Roopa, Rasa, and Gandh/indhriyas, are not in my control, my mind and Indhriyas are administering me, I have become the slave of them. Oh! Prabho, it is the pitiable state of Jeeva in the Kali era, the Kala/time, Karma/deeds and Indhriyas/sense are taken complete control over me, and imprisoned me, even though I have strongly opposed them, they have tricked on me and persuaded me. Oh! Prabho, your sacred name ‘Ra Ma’ is capable to remove the shackle of interest in worldly matters, Ahamkara and Mamakara, and the impurities of the mind. You are wielded in powerful bow and arrow. Oh Prabho, I have pleaded the thieves like the Indhriyas to release me from their capture, and informed them that I have already surrendered at the lotus feet of Lord Sri Ramachandra, immediately these Indhriyas/Vishayavisha softened their tone, requested me to allow a tiny space to stay in my mind, I am certain that these thieves would take complete control of the mind in due course of time. Oh! Prabho, till now I have managed to resist them with the recitation of your sacred names, alas! the evilness of the Kali era took a firm grasp on me. Oh! Prabho, I am helpless, kindly protect this distressed one, if not you won’t get the hint of me, I would be crushed under the evilness of the Kali era. Oh! Prabho, you have heard the complaints of an owl whose nest was taken over by the Gheed/eagle, was approached Lord Ram seeking your verdict, you have pronounced a fair judgment after hearing both the sides and instructed the Gheed to empty the nest immediately. Oh! Prabho, you have pronounced fair judgment on the dog whose head was wounded badly by the twice-born Theerthasidhdhi. Oh! Prabho, whoever approaches you for justice would be served fairly, why don’t you listen to my cries? My mind and Indhriyas have taken complete control over me. Oh! Kripalu, kindly pronounce the verdict, ‘Tulsi is mine’ so that I would get relieved from the redundant thoughts and interest in worldly matters, richness, wealth, money, possession, fame, attachment to wife, children, relatives and companion, excessive interest in Shabdha, Sparsha, Rasa, Roop, Gandh, Ahamkara and Makara, and the impurities of mind such as Kama, Krodha, Lobha, Moha, Madha, and Mathshcharya as well.”
