Chapter – 19 - Sur -Vinaya – Pathrika –The significance of devotion
Sri Surdas Maharaj speaks “Oh! Giridhar, I
have not seen any deity kind and compassionate as you. Oh! Prabho, you have
defeated the wicked Kauravas and crowned Yudhishtira as the King of Hasthinapur
and it spread the glories of you. Lord Brahma and Lord Rudra are equally concerned
about ‘Time’, that get frightened watching at your curved eyebrows. Oh! Prabho,
there was no King mighty and powerful as demon Ravana, but his ‘Mahamoha’,
Ahamkara, Mamakara, ego, jealousy, pride, lust, desire, anger, etc. drove him
away from you, finally got trapped in the mouth of Mayaroopi Mrithyu in the vicious
battle with Lord Rama. Oh! Prabho, you have brought back the son of Maharishi
Sandheepani from Yamaloka and offered him as ‘Gurudhakshina’ to your
preceptor. Your childhood companion Bhramin Sudhama who was penniless visited
you with a bundle of puffed rice packed in ragged upper clothe, hesitantly offered
to you and in return, he has achieved the wealth and richness that excels Lord
Indra. Oh! Prabho, Devi Dhraupdhi was dragged to the large assembly of Kaurava,
and Dusshasana humiliated her removing her clothes, she shrieked out for help,
remembered you, thus she got protected from further disgrace. Oh! Prabho,
whoever abandons to worship your lotus feet are unfortunate and ignorant, and
whoever sings in praise of your glories would never perish in four Yugas.”
