Chapter
– 40 - Sur -Vinaya – Pathrika – Devotion
to get rid of Thapathraya/three kinds of grief
Sri
Surdas Maharaj speaks “Oh! Prabho, Oh! Rama, your sincere devotees never face
ill fate, they will have all the comforts in abundance, Oh! Prabho, you are the
source of welfare and happiness for your devotees, and you fulfill all the desires
of your worshiper. Oh! Prabho, your kindness, and compassion are beyond
description, you are the source of ‘Purusharththa’/ four kinds of
auspiciousness known as Dharma/righteousness, ARththa/wealth, Kama/desire, and
Moksha/renunciation. Oh! Prabho, your glories are countless, excel the
splendor of Devaraj Indra, you symbolize Indra, you are the creator, preserver, and
destroyer of the Universe and its living and non-living things, after all these
the arrogant and ignorant humans swollen with pride and ego gets drenched in
the interest of worldly matters, such as possession, wealth, money, richness,
fame, relatives, companion, children, wife, etc. commits grave sins and hurl
themselves into repeated births. The ignorant humans swollen with Ahamkara/ego
and Mamakara/Pride, declare their rights on each and every material thing in
the world, without the knowledge of its destructible nature, or unwilling to share
it, or utilize it, just like the serpent that holds precious gem on its
forehead, that becomes the reason for its death. Oh! Mortals, if you want to
get rid of three kinds of grief such as 1) Adhidheivik, the grief, and
sufferings caused by the natural calamities, flood, wood fire, famine, drought,
epidemic, etc. 2) Adhibhauthik, the grief, and sufferings caused by the interest
in worldly matters such as possession, wealth, money, richness, fame, wife,
children, relatives, and companion, etc. that have fleeting nature 3)
Adhyathmik, the grief and sufferings caused by aging, illnesses, fear of death,
and the pain of separation from the beloved ones, Oh! Morals, you have to
abandon interest in worldly matters of impermanent nature and sing in praise of
Lord Sri Hari blissfully. Whoever sings in praise of Lord Rama would have pure
love and devotion at the lotus feet of Lord Sri Hari.”
