Chapter
– 65 - Sur -Vinaya – Pathrika – Jeevas/humans are fireflies
Sri
Surdas Maharaj speaks “Oh! Prabho, the humans and fireflies that get attracted
to fire and burn into ashes have no difference from one another, the humans
after achieving the rarest birth chase after material matters, possession, richness,
wealth, money, fame, children, wife, companion and relatives, etc., and constantly
undergo three kinds of grief/ aging, illnesses, fear of death, separation from
beloved people, loss or theft of wealth, loss of fame, unexpected and accidental
deaths, etc. The unfortunates drenched in worldly matters, hurl themselves into
the cycles of repeated births and undergo endless sufferings. The Bhramajjyani
and noble souls/Mahathma describe the worldly existence/Samsara as a dark and
bottomless well, whoever soaked in physical and material welfare is shoved into
this deep well and undergoes sufferings of worldly existence continuously. The
ignorant, arrogant, and wicked people drenched in desire, lust, ego, anger, pride, and jealousy of Rajasik and Thamasik nature constantly burn in the flame of
suffering because the Thamasik and Rajasik nature cannot bring well-being or
happiness. There are several deeds that are discouraged and encouraged by the
scriptures and sacred texts, unfortunately, people follow several beliefs and
rites of their own and spend their whole life performing deeds day and night
expecting fruitful results, alas! none of them would provide its results due to
the impurities in the Kali era. Oh! Ignorant ones, the Samsara/worldly existence
is a vast ocean, you cannot create a ferry of your own choice adopting various
techniques/values and beliefs/ and cross it, these ferries cannot take you to
the destination. Oh! Mortals, abandon the interest in worldly matters of
infinite names, appearance, sounds, touch, passion, and smell, and engage in singing the praise of Lord Sri Krishnachandra/Namasankeerthan/Namasmaran it is the only one that can liberate you from the sufferings and grief of worldly existence and
repeated births in this Kali era.”
