of the association with the Mahathma and noble souls
Sri
Surdas Maharaj speaks “Oh! Thothe/parrot-like mind, go to the place where Santh
Mahathma, noble souls sing in praise of Lord Sri Hari, and recite various
sacred names of the Lord that resemble nectar, and fill that nectar-like
glorious legend of Lord Rama in your ears. Oh! Mind, who is your son, and what’s
the meaning of getting attached to unworthy relationships such as father, son, grandchildren,
etc. those have momentary nature. What is the use of getting attached to family
and possession? It is a mere illusion that has no existence. Oh! Mind, why are
you taking pride in your body, physique, and beauty? It has fleeting nature, one
day it would become food for foxes, dogs, and vultures. Oh! Mind, it is a great
fortune to take pleasure in the association of Santh, Mahathma, noble souls,
who constantly sing in praise of supreme Lord Sri Hari, there won’t be lust,
desire, ego, jealousy, pride, anger, Ahamkara and Mamakara, it is a Sathsangvan
resembles forest that echoes the sounds of Shruthi, Veda, singing in praise of
Lord Sri Hari, it is Varanasi, and it is the abode of liberation/Mukthidham
from the sufferings and grief of worldly existence and repeated births. Oh! Mortals,
Sathsang/association with the Santh, Mahathma, noble souls is the single source
of Mukthi/liberation from worldly existence, take pleasure in the association
of Mahathma, listen and recite the glorious myths of Lord Sri Hari, thereby get
rid of sufferings and grief.”
