Sri Surdas Maharaj – Sri Sur – Vinaya – Pathrika – The kindness and compassion of Lord Sri Hari

Chapter – 169-  Sur -Vinaya – Pathrika – The kindness and compassion of Lord Sri Hari

Sri Surdas Maharaj speaks “Oh! Madhav, Oh! Karunamaya/mericiful, Oh! Keshava, you would easily forgive the thousands of sins of your devotees, you are too kind and compassionate to your devotees, you won’t pay attention to the mistakes of your devotees, like the unborn child that kicks inside the womb of mothers, even though mothers undergo unbearable pain while giving birth to a child, she won’t shed tears of pain, or never show hatred to the newborn, she would affectionately hold the baby close to her chest and nurture the child with great care and love. Oh! Prabho, you are too kind to your devotees, like the sandal tree that spread coolness as well as fragrance, even if it was cut down by the wicked and greedy, it won’t stop spreading its coolness and fragrances. Oh! Prabho, you are like the Prithvi/mother Earth, the farmers do plow, level, and manure the fields before sowing the seeds, they create tiny water courses to provide enough water to the crops, and finally, the compassionate mother Earth bearing heat and cold provides excellent crops to the farmers. At times, the tongue gets hurt by the teeth, but it does not stop providing the different tastes of the meal. Oh! Dhayanidhi, Oh! Prabho, you are the cause for all the causes, Oh! Prabho, I am helpless, worn out of grief and sorrows of worldly existence, I am ashamed as well as afraid of the sins committed by words, deeds, and mind. Oh! Prabho, I have already surrendered at your lotus feet, kindly protect me from the Kalikalaroopi/dreadful Kali era/ mouth of death resembling the giant crocodile, kindly protect me from the Thapathraya/three kinds of grief, 1) grief from illnesses, aging, fear of death, and separation from beloved ones and wealth 2) grief from the attachment to possession, wealth, richness, money, fame, children, wife, companion and relatives 3) grief from the natural calamities, famine, drought, flood, epidemic, wildfire, etc. Oh! Prabho, kindly protect me from the repeated births.”
