Chapter – 195- Sur -Vinaya – Pathrika –
Sri Surdas Maharaj speaks “Oh! Prabho, Oh!
Sri Hari, you have liberated the king of birds Jatayu who was brutally wounded
while fighting with the demon Ravana and trying to protect Devi Sita from his
clutches. Oh! Sri Hari, you have liberated the hunter Guha who served you
relentlessly, and the elephant Gajendra who fought alone against the crocodile
that caught on his leg, Gajendra found he was deserted by family, companions,
and relatives, and he continued to fight all alone for several years, finally
understood that he has no one to protect Lord Sri Hari, he cried out for Lord,
and you have rushed to protect him leaving the celestial vehicle Garuda, and liberated
Gajendra and the crocodile as well. Oh! Prabho, you have liberated Devi Ahalya,
Gautama Patni with your dust particle, she was cursed by Sage Gautama, to
become a rock for her mischievousness, was released from the curse, and achieved
a divine beautiful form. Oh! Prabho, the prostitute/Ganika, at a later year of
age brought a parrot from the devotee of Lord Sri Hari, was taken good care of
it, by mere listening to the ‘Sri Ramanama’ recital of the parrot, Ganika
achieved liberation from the grief of worldly existence. Oh! Prabho, the
Bhramin Ajamila who abandoned his elderly parents, family, and Vedic way of
living, for a prostitute in the forest, at the death bed he called out to his
younger son ‘Narayana’, by mere uttering the sacred name ‘Narayana’ he has
attained liberation. Oh! Prabho, you have liberated all of them, but none of
them were grave sinners like me, I am an ignorant and dull-minded poet. Oh!
Prabho, you are the savior of distressed and desolate people, how do I know
without experiencing your might if you don’t liberate me? Kindly uphold your
status of ‘Pathithapavan’ and liberate me from the suffering of worldly
existence.”
