Chapter – 239- Sur -Vinaya – Pathrika – The recitation of
sacred names of Lord Sri Hari would bring nearness to Lord/Bhagavathprapthi/ release
the soul from the grief and suffering
Sri Surdas Maharaj speaks “Oh! Prabho, Oh! Sri Hari,
the recitation of Sri Ramanama is the ultimate source for
Bhagavathprapthi/achievement of knowledge of self/Bhramagnana/nearness to God,
and whoever followed the recitation of your sacred names has attained the
abode of Lord Sri Hari. Oh! Giridhari who elevated Mount Govardhan, when the
elephant Gajendra was caught on the leg by the crocodile in the pond fought
with its willpower for several thousands of years, finally, he remembered Lord
Sri Hari and cried out for help. At that exact moment, Lord Hari rushed to his feet
to protect the elephant and crocodile and provided liberation to both. Oh!
Prabho, you have removed the poverty of the brahmin Sudhama and blessed him
with the richness equal to Lord Indra. The woman Kubja with three visible curves
on her body affectionately approached you with the sandalwood paste, and she
smeared the rich fragrant sandal paste on your marvelous body, in return you
have removed her deformity and transformed her into a mesmerizing beauty. Oh!
Prabho, you have protected Devi Dhraupadhi from the large assembly of Kaurava
by providing an abundance of clothes, thus crushing the pride of Dhussasan. Oh!
Prabho, you have killed the dreadful ten-headed demon Ravan in the fierce
battle and crowned Vibheeshan the
younger brother of Ravana as the King of Lanka. Oh! Prabho, Oh! Sri Hari, you
have provided the highest status of ‘pole star’ to Dhruva, your child
devotee. Oh! Sri Hari, you have incarnated for the welfare of your devotees,
why did you abandon me? I am helpless and ignorant, I have no one to protect me
other than you. I have already taken shelter at your lotus feet, kindly protect
me from the sufferings of worldly existence.”
