Chapter – 241- Sur -Vinaya – Pathrika – The recitation of ‘Sri Ramanama’ brings the serenity of mind
Sri Surdas
Maharaj speaks “Oh! Prabho, Oh! Sri Hari, I have heard from Santh Mahathma and
noble souls that you are the destroyer of grief, the sacred scriptures and Veda
eulogize your glories as ‘the destroyer of grief and sufferings of worldly
existence/Thapathraya’, I have sung in praise of that supreme Lord Sri Hari all
these days. Oh! Prabho, the prostitute/Ganika who was isolated in her later years
of age listened to the recitation of Sri Ramanama from her parrot, she had no knowledge
about it, and she sincerely imitated the recitation of her parrot, thus she got
liberated from the grief. Oh! Prabho, Devi Ahalya, wife of Sage Gautama was
cursed to become a rock, later mere the dust particles of Lord Sri Rama removed
her curse, and eventually, she joined with her husband. Oh! Prabho, you symbolize
auspiciousness, you are the ultimate asylum of Jeeva, you are the destroyer of
distress of the devotees who have taken shelter at your lotus feet, and you
could not bear your devotees in troubles. The elephant Gajendra was seized on the
leg by a crocodile in the pond and was abandoned by family, relatives, and friends,
it fought several thousands of years in extreme agony, finally lost hope and shrieked
in pain, you hurried to the Gajendra and liberated him. Oh! Ramanath/consort of
Devi Rama, you were too kind and compassionate to the people who uttered your
sacred names at the time of death bed, although they have committed several
sins by word, deed, and mind. Oh! Prabho, you are Pathithapavan/savior of the
distressed souls, kindly shower your compassionate grace upon me, and protect
me from the sufferings of worldly existence.”
