Sur -Vinaya – Pathrika –Chapter - 14 - Sabari Moksham - Lord Krishna's visit to Vidura's home

Sri Surdas Maharaj speaks “Oh! Govinda, you are too kind and compassionate to your devotees, you are the knower of all, you are indebted to your devotees, you assume the form whatever desired by your devotees. Oh! Prabho, your passionate devotee Sabari brought upper clothe full of berries, and she had tasted each and every berry to test the sweetness of it and offered to you the superior ones, you have gracefully accepted them. Further, you have fondly remembered that incident as ‘you have not gotten the opportunity to enjoy the same sweetness of the fruit that was offered by Sabari in your whole life. Oh! Shyamasundhara, you have always been affectionate to your devotees, you have visited the house of Vidhura, leaving the sumptuous meal offered by Duryodhana. You have been received with great honor and affection in the house of Vidura, and Vidurani who is a passionate devotee of you offered a bunch of plantain fruits, she was so mesmerized to watch Shyamsundhar in her home, offered the skin of plantain instead of banana, you did not hesitate to eat the skin of banana which was fondly offered by Vidurani. Oh! Prabho, as a part of Duryodhana’s plotting against the Pandavas who were already suffering in the dense woods, Sage Dhurvass was requested to visit the Pandavas during their exile from Hastinapura. Sage Durvass along with several thousands of disciples arrived in the wood to meet the Pandavas, unfortunately, there was no meal available to offer the Sage and his disciple. Devi Dhraupadhi called out for your help, Oh! Shyamasundara, you have instantly appeared before her and consumed a tiny piece of green from the bottom of ‘Akshayapathra’ which was already cleaned after the consumption of the day’s meal, thus, you have made the Sage Durvass and his disciple forget their hunger. Oh! Karunanidhi, you have never abandoned your devotees in distress, you have always been there to protect your sincere devotees in each Yuga.”

Chapter – 13 -  Sur -Vinaya – Pathrika – The religion or caste or clan won't deter the Jeeva from Bhagavath Prapthi

Sri Surdas Maharaj speaks “Oh! Prabho, you have been kind and compassionate to Jeeva, haven’t looked at the caste, religion, clan, etc., and proved that the religion or caste or clan will not deter the Jeeva from Bhagavath Prapthi.  Byadh/King of birds Jatayu and Ajamila achieved liberation at the lotus feet of Lord Sri Hari.  Oh! Krishnachandra, you have approached Kauravas as an emissary of Pandava, was humiliated in the large assembly, you have crushed the pride of Duryodhana and affectionately accepted the hospitality of Vidura who was born to a servant maid. Oh! Prabho, Oh! Gopal, you have been born in the clan of cowherds and performed the tasks of the cowherds, you have stolen the hearts of the cowherds with your various amusements. Oh! Prabho, you have never disappointed your devotees, Oh! Bhakthavathsala, you have always kept your promise alive.”

Sri Surdas Maharaj – Sri Sur – Vinaya – Pathrika -Chapter – 12 - The nobleness of Lord Sri Krishna

Sur -Vinaya – Pathrika – The nobleness of Lord Sri Krishna

Surdas Maharaj speaks “The devotees of Lord Sri Rama represent Lord Sri Ramachandra, no matter the devotee is mendicant, or King. Lord Sri Rama does not look at the Gothra, caste, status, clan, fame, etc. of the devotees. Oh! Prabho, I am an ignorant one, I do not know the glories of Lord Bhrama or Lord Maheshwara, one thing is certain that you can’t tolerate the arrogance and ignorance, you abandon the impure and wicked drenched in Ahamkara, Mamakara, jealousy, ego, pride, desire, lust, anger, etc. The deities had the pride of their superiority over demons, they have met several troubles due to their swollen pride, even though you were too kind and protected them. Oh! Prabho, your child devotee Prahlada was born in the clan of demons, you have appeared as a half lion- half man in the pillar at the call of your devotee. Lord Sri Raghava was born in the clan of Raghu, Lord Krishna was born in Gokul, and he had never left the Vrindavan. Oh! Prabho, the deities, demons, and humans have attained your continuous grace, I shall repeatedly describe your various amusements, but I could not describe the splendor of your passionate devotees, it is beyond my words.  Oh! Prabho, your child devotee Dhruva was born in the Kshatriya clan, and your passionate devotee Vidura was born to a maidservant, you have never shown any partialities to your devotees. Oh! Prabho, it is a widely known fact that you are Bhakthvathsala/you are inseparable from your devotees, you are always at the call of your devotees. Oh! Prabho, Oh! Shyamasundhara, you are too amiable, during the Rajasuya Yajja of Yudhishtira, you have stood forefront to wash the leg of Sages and Rishis and Brahmanas. Oh! Prabho, how can I describe your glories? Oh! Shyamasundhara, I have only one tongue, but your glories are endless. Oh! Prabho, Veda, and scriptures are witnesses of your boundless mercy, virtue, and compassion.”

Chapter – 11 -  Sur -Vinaya – Pathrika – Gajendra Moksham - The legend of King Ambareesha

Sri Surdas Maharaj speaks “Oh! Jeeva, I have not seen a deity kind and compassionate as Lord Sri Hari, whoever remembers the supreme Lord Hari would get protected from all the troubles instantly. Gajendra who was caught on a leg by the crocodile in the pond, was left alone by his family, friends, and relatives, fought against the crocodile for several years, finally, he cried out calling for Lord Sri Hari. The compassionate Lord did not wait for Goddess Sri Mahalakshmi or celestial vehicle Garuda, he rushed to the pond with the disc and protected Gajendra from the clutch of the crocodile. King Ambareesha who was an ardent devotee of Lord Sri Hari met the wrath of Sage Dhurvassa was got rid of the curse of the Sage and the compassionate Lord showered an abundance of grace upon his devotee. All the deities and Sages have witnessed the Sage Dhurvassa rushing to the abode of Bhrama, Vishnu, and Maheshwara seeking protection from the fierce disc chased after him, finally, he had to appeal to King Ambareesh and got saved himself. The sons of Pandu were trapped in the Lakshagriha/wax house built by Kaurava, the compassionate Lord provided them good intellect to get themselves saved from the horrific fire accident. Oh! Jeeva, my Lord Sri Krishnachandra has protected his devotees in many ways, and removed their fear of worldly existence.”

Sri Surdas Maharaj – Sri Sur – Vinaya – Pathrika -Chapter – 10 -Is Jeevathma grateful to Paramathma?

Sur -Vinaya – Pathrika – Is Jeevathma grateful to Paramathma?

Sri Surdas Maharaj speaks “Oh! Jeeva, there is no deity compassionate and kind as Lord Sri Hari, he showers abundance of grace upon his ardent devotees to make them blissful as they have desires, he fulfills all the desires of his passionate devotees. He quenches the thirst of Jeeva by offering water, waves off hunger by providing meals, and showers clothe to cover the nakedness. He is supreme Lord Sri Krishnachandra, Lord of Universe, Lord of animate and inanimate things always concerned about the Jeeva like the mother cow always think of her calves while grazing in the woods, and rushes to its calves in the evening to be with them. He is Paramaudhara/gracious Lord, merciful, he is Chathurachoodamani/wisdom personified, he showers abundance of wealth to penniless, he protects the Jeeva who are surrendered at his lotus feet, he spread hands before his passionate devotees for worthless things, he can’t bear to watch his devotees in distress, he rushes to protect his devotees in trouble. He is Bhakthavathsala, keeps up his promises to his devotees, and he finds immense pleasure in keeping his promise to his devotees. Oh! Jeeva, the supreme Lord Sri Krishnachandra performs millions and millions of favors to Jeeva, are we grateful to him? Are we expressing gratitude to his boundless mercy? There won’t be no one selfish like us.”

Chapter – 9 -  Sur -Vinaya – Pathrika – The Jeeva who does not practice sincere devotion and worship of Lord Sri Hari is unfortunate

Sri Surdas Maharaj speaks “Oh! Jeeva, have you ever taken notice of the kindness and nobleness of Lord Sri Hari? take notice of the magnanimity of Lord Sri Hari who Sarveshwara Paramathma Parambhramam, all-pervasive Bhramam, the Lord of the Universe, protector of souls, Lord of animate and inanimate things, he is the ocean of mercy, he can’t bear to watch his devotees in distress. Oh! Jeeva, Lord Sri Krishnachandra is too gracious and forgiving, praises the teeny tiny virtues of his devotees to the size of Mount Mahameru, and consider their grave sins of ocean-sized into water bubbles. The Supreme Lord Sri Krishnachandra is pure, pleasant and bliss personified, even if you go afar from him, his lotus-like place remains cheerful while you get closer to him. He is Karunamaya/merciful, hence, relentlessly chases after his passionate devotees, he cannot bear the separation from his devotees, not even for a second. Oh! Jeeva, whoever afar from the practice of devotion and worship of Lord Sri Krishnachandra is unfortunate.”

Chapter – 8 -  Sur -Vinaya – Pathrika –The graciousness of supreme Lord Sri Hari - Nalakubera Moksham - Gajendramoksham

Sri Surdas Maharaj speaks “ Oh! Prabho, you are too compassionate and kind to your devotees, and you have assumed various forms as per the desire of your devotees and rushed to their cries. Oh! Sri Hari, Oh! Dheenabandhu, the Veda, and scriptures highly eulogized your kindness to Jeeva. Oh! Prabho, the two sons of Lord Kubera became arrogant, they were drenched in worldly matters and lost their wisdom, further, they got cursed by Devarishi Narada and turned into a Yamalarjjuna tree. You have manifested as Lord Krishna and relieved them from the curse, got fastened to the mortal pastel by Devi Yasodha. Oh! Shyamasundara, your childhood friend Sudhama was fragile, clad in rugs approached you with a small bundle of puffed rice packed in ragged upper clothe, you have received him with great respect and love, consumed a handful of puffed rice, and showered an abundance of wealth and richness to his wife. Oh! Prabho, Gajaraj who was caught on the leg by a crocodile in the pond made a futile effort to get out of the mouth of it was miserably failed, deserted by friends, family at a certain point of time, he shrieked out of pain and called out for Lord Sri Hari, instantly, the compassionate Lord Sri Hari abandoned his Sri Vaikundam and the celestial vehicle Garuda and rushed to protect Gajaraja from the mouth of death. Oh! Prabho, Oh! Shyamasundhara you symbolize all art forms, you are the essence of wisdom and knowledge, even though you have undergone studies at the guidance of Sage Sandheepani, and you have offered marvelous ‘Gurudhakshina’, you have brought back the life of his one and only son from Yamaloka and pleased your preceptor. Oh! Sri Krishnachandra, Oh! Bhakthavathsala, Oh! Pathithapavana, Oh! Madhava, Oh! Prabho, I have no idea how many of the sinners like me have attained the grace of you, thereby achieved liberation from the sufferings and grief of worldly existence.”
