Goddess Sri Parvathi spoke “ Oh! Lord of
the three worlds, Oh! Sarvajjya/knower of all, Oh! Parameshwara/my consort, I
would like to listen to the hundreds of glorious names of Lord Vishnu, Oh! Karunasindho/ocean of mercy, kindly narrates
to me.”
Lord Maheshwara replied “ Oh! Devi, Oh! Pranavallabhe, you have enquired about
the meritorious rewards of glorious and highly confidential hundreds of sacred
names of Lord Vishnu with utmost affection. This glorious hymn begins with chandass
– Anushtup, Paramathma – Devatha by Maheshwara Rishi.”
Dhyanam –
I shall meditate upon supreme Lord Vishnu
who is the Lord of the Universe, he has the complexion of dark clouds, he is
attired in majestic yellow clothes, he is decked in Srivathsam and Kousthubham,
he has beautiful eyes resemblance to lotus flower. He is Lord Vishnu who is the consort of
Lakshmi, he is Krishna/dark complexioned whose abode is Vaikunda , he has the
flag that has the symbol of Garuda, he is Parambhrama, he is Jagannatha/Lord of
the world, he is Vasudeva and Thrivikrama as well. He is the destroyer of demons /Dhaithyanthaka,
he is the destroyer of demon Madhu, he is eternal, he is Narayana/seated in the
water, he is Padmanabha/carries lotus in his navel, he is Hrishikesha/who has
complete control over senses, he is the provider of abundance of boons, he is
Madhava, he is Pundarikaksha/he has the eyes like lotus flower, he is the
preserver of the Universe, he is beyond thought/Parathpara, he is decked in
Vanamala/fresh alluring flowers of woods, he is the personification of Yagna,
he is Chakrapani/carries divine wheel and mace in his hands, he is
Upendhra/younger brother of Lord Indhra, he is Keshava/has beautiful hair locks,
he is spiritual preceptor, he is Lord Hari who churned the milky ocean, he is
Govinda/provider of happiness, he is the cause for the birth of Lord Bhrama, he
is the slayer of demon Madhu Kaitabha, he is Sridhara/who carries Lakshmi on
his chest, he is the cause for the birth of Lord Manmatha, he is
Sheshashayi/who is in Yoganidhra on the serpent Shesha, he has four
hands/Chathurbhuja, he holds Panchajanya, he is Sriman/who has the supreme
authority on wealth, he is Sarangapani/who is wielded with the divine bow
Sharnga, he is Janardhana, he is attired in majestic yellow garments, he has
Lord Surya and Lord Chandra as his eyes, he has various incarnations such as
Mathsya/fish, Koorma/ tortoise, Kroda/Varaha, Nrukesari/Nrusimha/half man and
half lion, Vamana/dwarf, Bhargava/Parasurama, Lord Rama,
Hali/Haladhara/Balarama, Sri Krishna, Hayanana/Hyagreevah horse faced, Vishwambhara,
Shimshumara, Srikara, Kapila, Dhruva, Dhaththathreya, Achyutha, Anantha,
Mukunda, Dhadhivamana, Dhanvanthari , Srinivasa, Purushoththama/flawless among
men, Rishabha, Mohini, Sangarshana, Prithu, he is Ksheerabdhashayi who encircles
in the milky ocean, he is Bhoothathma who dwells as soul in all the living
beings, he is Bhagavan who is most desirable to his devotees, he is Aniruddha,
he is unfathomable, he shines in the three worlds/Thridhama, he causes welfare
of the living beings/Bhoothabhavana, he dwells in Shwethadhvipa and the center
of Sooryamandalam as well, he is worshiped by Sanakadis, he is the savior of
Gajendhra/Gajendhravarada, he has blue complexion, he is consort of Neela and Dhara/Bhoomi,
he is the essence of Veda, he is Badarayana, he is the cause for the origin of
Bhageerathi/Ganga on this Earth at the touch of his lotus feet, he is supreme
Lord, he is self-existent spread across the blue sky, he is the cause of the
origin of Universe, he is personified as Buddha, he is serene, he has
charismatic form of human, he is Dhamodhara, he has Viradroopam, he is the
knower of past, present and future, he is primordial, he is the Lord of Lords,
he is the savior of Prahlada. These
glorious thousands of sacred names of Lord Vishnu are highly auspicious,
whoever reads or listens would attain Bhukthi/fulfillment of desires,
ultimately Mukthi/salvation from the repeated births.
