I shall offer humble salutation in the early hours of dawn to Lord Vishwanatha, who is nectar like ocean of mercy, he is adorned in crescent moon that spread cool rays, he is the provider of all the auspiciousness to his worshiper, he is eternal.  I shall offer humble salutation in the early hours of dawn to Varanasipurapathi who is the Lord of sacred city of Varanasi, he is Sri Vishwanatha who carries majestic flag that has the symbol of celestial bull, he is worshiped by the whole Universe, he is the Lord of Lords who is the cause of creation, preservation and deluge at the end of Yuga, he is beyond description, his lotu feet are worshiped by illustrious Rishis and Sages.  I shall offer humble salutations to the Lord of the sacred city of Varanasi/Varanasipurapathi, he is Sri Vishwanatha who is divine personified to eradicate the worldly existence of the worshiper, he is Gangadhara who is decked in sacred Ganga on matted hair locks, he is extremely charismatic, he is worshiped by Pramathaganas, he is adorned in King of serpent as ornaments, he eradicates the fears of the worshiper.  I shall offer humble salutation in the early hours of dawn to Varanasipurapathi who is the Lord of sacred land of Varanasi, I shall always prostrate before the lotus feet of Lord Vishwanatha, I shall always recite the sacred Panchakshara in my heart, I shall always speak about your endless glories.  I shall offer humble salutation in the early hours of dawn to Varanasipurapathi who is the Lord of sacred land of Varanasi, he is beloved of Ganga and Goddess Paravathi who is the daughter of Mount Himavan, he is serene, he is eulogized by Veda and Vedantha, he is the Lord of the Lords as well Lord of the Universe, he dwells in the highest mountain peaks, he is eternal, he is eulogized by sacred scriptures.  I shall offer humble salutation in the early hours of dawn to Lord of Varanasi/Varanasipurapathi, when the whole Universe and its living beings wrapped up by the darkness at the time of deluge, the supreme Lord shines with great effulgence.  I shall offer humble salutation in the early hours of dawn to the Lord of Varanasi/Varanasipurapathi, whose son eradicates all the obstacles of the worshiper/Vighnahartha, whose wife is always immersed in the charity of meals to the whole Universe/Annapoornna, he is Shiva who eradicates worldly bondages of the worshiper.  I shall offer humble salutation in the early hours of dawn to the Lord of Varanasi/Varanasipurapathi , I shall earnestly pray  on behalf of people who are  equivalent to unconscious child, not recited your glories or uttered or listen or speak or shed tears speaking about your endless myth.  I shall offer humble salutation in the early hours of dawn to the Lord of Varanasi/Varanasipurapathi who is Sreekanda, he symbolizes wealth, he is decked in venmous serpents as ornaments, he is Neelakanda who has bluish throat, he eradicates miseries and sorrows of the worshiper, he is smeared in sacred ashes all over the body.  I shall offer humble salutation in the early hours of dawn to the Lord of Varanasi/Varanasipurapathi who is beloved of Sri Parvathi, he has five faces/Panchavakthra, he has bluish throat/Neelakanda, he is adorned in garlands of skulls, he is Sri Vishwanatha whose lotus feet are soft and supple.  I shall offer humble salutation in the early hours of dawn to sacred Ganga, whose powerful water current has the resemblance to milk which creates beautiful waves, she has originated for the purification of souls of passionate devotees, her lotus feet are worshiped by illustrious Rishis and Sages on daily basis, she is Ganga , she is  safest heaven to the worshiper who are surrendered to Lord Shiva.  I shall surrender to the lotus feet of  Lord Vishwanatha who is the Lord of Varanasi, he is eternal bliss, he dwells in the dense wood of bliss, he is the provider of happiness and he eradicates  miseries and sins of the worshiper.

I shall meditate upon deities of sacred shrine of Kashi,  Vishvesha, Madhava, Dhundi, Dhandapani, Bhairava, and I shall meditate upon sacred Ganga, Goddess Bhavani, Manikarnnika and caves.   I shall offer early morning salutation to the presiding deity of sacred Kashi Lord Vishwanatha, who is adorned in streams of Ganga on matted hair locks, I shall offer humble salutations to Lord Vishwanatha along with  Sri Dhundi, Bhairava, Goddess Sri Annapoornna who is the mother of Universe and its living beings.  I shall offer early morning salutations to Lord Bhrama, Murari/Lord Vishnu, Thripuranthakari/Lord Shiva, Bhanu/Lord Surya, Shashi/Lord Chandhra, Bhoomisutha/Mangal, Budha/son of Lord Chandhra, Guru/Bhrihaspathi, Shukracharya, Shani/Saturn, Rahu and Kethu.  I shall offer early morning salutation to  the Lord of Varanasi who is Gajanana and Dhundiraja as well, he eradicates all the miseries and perils of the worshiper, he spreads happiness all over the world, therefore the whole Universe  offers initial  salutation  to him.  I shall offer my humble salutations to the sacred city of Sri Kashika which is highly revered by the whole of the Universe; I shall offer salutation to all the hermitages, shrines, sacred rivers, ponds, and numerous Ghats, and illustrious scholars of this sacred city.  I shall offer my humble salutation to the highly auspicious city Sri Kashika which provides liberation from repeated births to crores and crores of people nearing to death ,  people whether pious or impiouswho are surrendered at this place will achieve liberation from repeated births.  All the auspiciousness to the sacred land Kashi which is known as the city of Thripurari Rajanagari, it is worshiped by  deities, Surendhras, Muneedhras, Gandharvas, Siddha, Yaksha, Uraga, Naga , illustrious Bhramins living on the Earth. All the auspiciousness to sacred river Ganga and the rivers situated on its surrounding places,  All the auspiciousness to  Goddess of Manikarnnika, I shall offer humble salutation to Ganga who is prominent among rivers, she lures the heart of the worshiper, she removes sins and safely guide us to cross the ocean of Samsara, she is Nandha who provides happiness, she is eulogized by Nandhi, Ganesha,and deities, she is the resting place of magnificent earring of Goddess Sri Parvathi, her sacred river bank is the place of long penance of Lord Vishnu.  I shall meditate upon Jahnavi who is Mokshalakshmi, who is originated from the lotus feet of Lord Vishnu, she took rest on the matted hair locks of Lord Shiva in the form of a flower garland, she eradicates all the evil effects of Kali era. I shall meditate upon sacred river Ganga  who is stunningly beautiful, she originated from the lotus feet of Lord Vishnu, and ascended down to Earth from the matted hair locks of Thripurari, she eradicates all the sins of worshiper.  I shall meditate upon Lord Vigneshvara who is the delight of Goddess Girija, all the auspiciousness to Dhundiraja who eradicates all the obstacles, he has great effulgence of early hours of sun, he has the luster of moon and he is adorned in serpent as sacred thread across the chest.  All the auspiciousness to Sri Vishvanatha Prabhu who has bluish throat,  he is adorned in serpent, his matted hair locks are decorated with sacred Ganga, Goddess Sri Girija who is the daughter of Himavan seated on his left, she is victorious, she is Bhavani as well as Sathi, he is surrounded by Nandhi, Skandha, Ganesha/Ganadhiraja, he resides in the sacred shrine of Kashi, he is the Universal preceptor.

Oh! Parameshvara, I shall surrender to the lotus feet of you,  I have completely worn out of passion, desires, ego,  lust and anger, I have no one to protect me, I am helpless, distressed and degraded, therefore kindly protect me.   Oh! Prabho, you are aware of the fact that I am an ignorant with no intelligence, you are the Lord of Universe and its living beings, you are mighty Lord.  Oh! Parameshvara, you symbolizes Bhrama , Vishnu and Maheshvara, I have no knowledge in scriptures or philosophies of you, therefore kindly protect me. Oh! Karunanidhe who is compassionate, you are my father, you are my mother, you are my closest relative, and I am not aware of anyone other than you, therefore kindly eradicate all our miseries and sorrows.  Oh! Jagathpathi who is the Lord of the Universe, I shall surrender at your lotus feet, kindly protect me and eradicate all the sufferings of worldly existence, I have indulged in the passion and pleasures of worldly bondage as father and son, these are not going to help me during the time of adversities, Oh! Parameshvara I have have worn out of excessive lust, anger, ego, jealous, passion, desire etc.. I have become the enemy of my own soul; therefore kindly protect me, Oh! Jagathpathi, kindly protect us from these endless miseries and sorrows, kindly shower your mercy upon us. Oh! Parameshvara, I have no one to protect in the worldly existence, I shall surrender at your lotus feet, therefore kindly protect me.  Eshvara Prarthana Sthothram was composed by Sri Yoganandha, whoever reads or listens to it with intense faith and devotion would attain the blessings of Eshvara.

I shall repeatedly prostrate before supreme Lord Ardhanareeshvara who has half of the body of Goddess Gauri which has the radiance of precious yellow metal and the other half has the luster of camphor and extremely fair, he has possessed long attractive plait of hair on one side and other half is covered in attractive crimson colored matted hair locks.  I shall repeatedly prostrate before supreme Lord Ardhanareeshvara whose half of the face adorned in Kasthuri/saffron, vermilion and fragrant sandal paste, and other half is smeared in sacred ashes from the funeral grounds, he is worshiped by passionate as well as rebellion.  I shall repeatedly prostrate before supreme Lord Ardhanareeshvara whose one leg is decorated with marvelous anklets of precious yellow metal that produces clattering noises, other leg is decorated with the venomous King of serpent as anklet, one part of the body is decorated in precious yellow metal and other half is decorated with venomous serpents.  I shall repeatedly prostrate before supreme Lord Ardhanareeshvara, whose one eye is wide and bluish colored resembles to blue lilly, and the other eye has the appearance of fully blossomed lotus flower, he is impartial and has beautiful two eyes and  a third eye on the forehead.  I shall repeatedly prostrate before supreme Lord Ardhanareeshvara whose half part of the chest is adorned in the garlands of fresh alluring flowers of Mandhara, the other half of the chest is decorated in the garlands made of skulls,  half of the body is attired in majestic garments and the other half is attired in directions as clothes.    I shall repeatedly prostrate before supreme Lord Ardhanareeshvara whose half of the long beautiful plait of hair is decorated with the blue lotus flowers and the other half of the matted hair locks adorned in crescent moon, he is worshiped by non-believer as well as the whole Universe.  I shall repeatedly prostrate before supreme Lord Ardhanareeshvara whose half of the face represents Jagathjanani who   creates Universe and its living beings, the other half represents Jagadhekapitha who causes delusion at the end of Yuga that results in absorption of Universe and its living beings.  I shall repeatedly prostrate before supreme Lord Ardhanareeshvara whose half of the face is adorned in magnificent gem studded earring that spreads intense radiance and the other half is adorned in venomous serpent as earring, half part of the body represents ShivA and the other half is Shiva.  Whoever reads or listens to the above sacred verses describes the splendor of Lord Ardhanareeshvara would attain long life, good fortune and happiness, permanent wealth and all kinds of super natural powers.

I shall repeatedly prostrate before supreme Lord Shiva along with Goddess Sri Parvathi, I shall prostrate before supreme Lord Shiva who eradicates all the inauspiciousness, he is beloved of all, he is pure, and he is the essence of sacred Veda.  I shall repeatedly prostrate before supreme Lord Shiva along with Goddess Sri Parvathi, I shall prostrate before supreme Lord Shiva who  is mounted on a grand chariot, he has Ravi/Surya, Indhu/moon, and Vaishvanara/Agni as eyes, and his face has great effulgence and he is decked in crescent moon on matted hair locks.  I shall repeatedly prostrate before supreme Lord Shiva along with Goddess Sri Parvathi, I shall prostrate before supreme Lord Shiva who  is supreme ascetic, he is devoid of aging or death, he is worshiped by Janardhana with his lotus like eyes.  I shall repeatedly prostrate before supreme Lord Shiva along with Goddess Sri Parvathi, I shall prostrate before supreme Lord Shiva who has three eyes, he is decked in garlands of Bilwa and Mallika, and he is inseparable from stunningly gorgeous and serene Goddess Sri Parvathi.  I shall repeatedly prostrate before supreme Lord Shiva along with Goddess Sri Parvathi, I shall prostrate before supreme Lord Shiva who is the protector of living beings, he is the protector of three worlds, and he is worshiped by Suras and Asuras.  Whoever reads or listens to the above propitious verses praising the splendor of Lord Shiva and Goddess Sri Parvathi, with intense devotion and faith, worshiper would be blessed with all the auspiciousness and resides in the abode of Lord Shiva for hundreds of years.

Sri Shuka speaks “ Oh! Pitha, kindly narrate the highly propitious hymns of Lord Vishnu which could eradicate all the miseries and sorrows of the worldly existence.”


Sri Vedavyasa speaks “Oh! Dhvija,Ashtakshara Manthra is highly auspicious among the sacred hymns, whoever recites or listens to it would be relieved from all kinds of miseries and sorrows of the wordly existence,  it removes the worldly bondages of the worshiper, Oh! Dhvija, it should be recited with utmost faith and devotion meditating upon supreme Lord Vishnu who is wielded in Shankha and Chakra, on the lotus like place in the middle of eyebrows,  Ashtakshara manthra can  be recited in a place of utter silence, or in the shrine of Lord Vishnu or inside the water with intense faith, Ashtakshara Manthra symbolizes Lord Narayana, it  has Gayathri as Chandhass, Paramathma is Lord Narayana, Omkaram represents white as well as dark blue, Nakaram represents crimson color, Rakaram represents the color of vermilion, Yakaram represents yellow, Nnakaram represents fire, Yakara represents various colors.  The sacred hymns of  Ashtakshara  ‘Om Namo Narayana’ is capable to fulfil all the desires of the worshiper, righteous who yearns for Moksha would attain the same, it represents highly auspicious Pranava in sacred Veda, supreme Lord Vishnu symbolizes wealth, he eradicates all the sins of the worshiper, Ashtakshara is highly propitious among the sacred hymns, hence it should be recited always. Whoever recites or listens to it during the hours of dusk would get relieved from all the sins, recitation of this highly propitious hymn is equivalent to penance, it provides Moksha as well as heaven to worshiper, it is the essence of Veda, it is highly confidential as well, it is highly auspicious hymn beloved of Lord Vishnu as well as the devotees of Lord Vishnu, therefore it should be recited always. Oh! Vipra, whoever recites or listens to this sacred hymn after abultions would be relieved from sins, it should be recited while performing charity, fire sacrifices, while travelling and meditation.  It should be recited before initiating any deeds; it should be recited thousands of times after abulation.  Oh! Dhvijoththama, whoever recites or listens to the Ashtakshara on each  Dhvadhashi for hundred of times after abulation and following austerities, veneraton of supreme Lord with fresh alluring flowers of various fragrances would attain the supreme abode of Lord Narayana, worshiper would be freed from extreme perils, and this auspicious hmyn should be recited with utmost devotion always.  Whoever reads or listens to it for lakshs of times of Prathama will attain Athmashuddhi/purity, Dhvitheeya will attain Swargaloka, Chathurtha will attain nearness to Lord Hari, Panchama will attain supreme wisdom and knowledge, Shashti will attain eternal presence of Lord Vishnu on their intellect, Sapthama will attain the appearance of Lord Vishnu, Ashtamam will attain the state of Nirvana, Oh! Dhvijoththama,  it is always approprite to follow the duties and responsibilities of Swadharma.  The Ashtakshara Manthra provides all kinds of Siddhis to worshiper, it removes nightmares, fears from Asura, Pishacha, Uraga and Bhramarakshas, fears from serpents, thieves, and wicked people, whoever reads or listens to it will remain devotee of Lord Vishnu.  Ashtaksharamanthra removes the fear of death, it is highly propitious among the hymns, it represents supreme Lord Narayana, it is highly confidential, it is not perceivable through senses, it provides long life, wealth, virtuous offspring, possession of cattle, knowledge and fame to the worshiper, whoever recites this sacred Ashtakshara would attain Dharma, Arththa, Kama, and Moksha, it is prescribed in the Veda itself.  It provides all kinds of supernatural powers to the worshiper, it provides liberation from repeated births and supreme abode of Lord Vishnu to person who is nearing to death, it eradicates toxic poisons like miseries and sorrows of worldly existence, it should be listen with intense devotion and faith, I have narrated the splendor of highly auspicious hymns of Ashtakshara, Oh! Puthra, Oh! Shishya, listen to me carefully, there is no hymn superior to this, I shall promise to you repeatedly that Lord Keshava is superior to Veda and Shashtra, after conferring thoroughly into all sacred scriptures, I shall affirm to contemplate upon Lord Narayana always, Oh! Shishya, I have got the fortune to narrate the splendor of Janardhana to you, Ashtakshara Manthra eradicates all kinds of miseries and sorrows of the worshiper, Oh! Puthra,  Oh! Mahabuddhe/highly intelligent, therefore recite this glorious hymn to attain all kinds of Siddhis.”  The above are the describtion of the splendor of Ashtaksharamanthra by Maharishi Vedavyasa should be recited thrice/dawn, noon and dusk; it protects everyone from the fear of unfathomble ocean like Samsara.

Sri Krishna speaks “ Oh! Arjjuna, I shall narrate the thousands of propitious names which is capable to eradicate all the sins of the humans, these are twelve auspicious names of Supreme Lord  Vishnu, firstly Hari, secondly Keshava who have beautiful curly hair locks, thirdly Padmanabha who have lotus on his havel, fourthly  Vamana/Lord Vishnu’s manifestation as dwarf, fifthly Vedagarbha who is born from Veda, sixthly Madhusoodhana who is the slayer of demon Madhu, seventhly Vasudeva who is the protector of the Universe and its living beings/inconquerable, eighthly Varaha/Lord Vishnu’s incarnation as wild boar, ninthly Pundareekaksha who has the eyes resembles to lotus flower petals, tenthly Janardhana who is the protector of Universe and its living beings , eleventhly Krishna who has the complexion of dark clouds, and twelfthly Sreedhara who carries Goddess Sri Mahalakshmi on his chest, worshiper whoever reads or listens to these twelve sacred names during the hours of dawn and dusk on daily basis will attain the merits of observing thousands of Chandhrayana, performance of hundreds of marriage of bride to suitable bridegroom, and performance of thousands of Ashwamedha Yaga, it is highly propitious to recite on the  auspicious days of Amavasya, Pournami, and Dhvadhashi, whoever reads or listens to these sacred names of Lord Vishnu in the early hours of dawn would be freed from all the sins.”

Balagopala, kindly protect us, he killed the demons Dhenuka and Arishta, he destroyed Keshi and Kamsa, he plays melodious music on flute, and he crushed the pride of Poothana.  I shall meditate upon supreme Lord who has the eyes resembles to lotus flower petals, I shall meditate upon his lotus feet that is crimson coloured, he is attired in majestic garments, he has the resemblance to lightning, I shall meditate upon supreme Lord who is supremely charming and has the appearance of rain clouds, his chest is adorned in garlands made of flowers of woods.  I shall meditate upon supreme Lord who has beautiful curly hair locks that spread over charming face, he is adorned in precious gem on his hair locks, he is decked in magnificent earrings that keeps dangling towards the neck, he is decorated in ornaments as Hara/necklace, Keyoora/armlets, and bangles, he is adorned in marvelous waist belt that produces melodious noises.  Whoever reads or listens to Achyuthashtakam with intense devotion and faith, worshiper who yearns for union with supreme Bhramam would attain the abode of supreme Lord Hari.

Oh! Jagannatha, kindly shower your auspicious grace on us, I shall meditate upon Lord Jagannatha who takes immense pleasure in exploring through the river banks of Kalindhi, and takes immense joy in playing melodious music on his flute, he takes immense delight like a honey bee on the lotus like face of young maidens of Vraja, his lotus feet are venerated by  Goddess Rama, Shambhu, Bhrama, Lord Indhra, Amaras, and Ganesha.  Oh! Jagannatha kindly shower your auspicious grace on us, I shall meditate upon Lord Jagannatha who carries flute on his hand, his attractive curly hair locks are decorated with the feathers of peacock, he is attired in finest garments and throw side ways glances on his companions, he resides on the sacred land of Vrindavan and takes immense pleasure in the amorous sport with the young maidens of Vraja.  Oh! Jagannatha kindly shower your auspicious grace on us, I shall meditate upon Lord Jagannatha who resides on highest peak of Neeladhri located on the shores of great ocean, he has great effulgence like precious yellow metal, he resides in the majestic palace with his elder brother Balabadhra and sister Subhadhra in the middle, in this way he gives out the highest of fortune to the deities to worship him.  Oh! Jagannatha kindly shower your auspicious grace on us, I shall meditate upon Lord Jagannatha, he symbolizes ocean of mercy, he has the complexion of dark clouds, he provides immense delight to the lotus like faces of  Goddess Rama and Vani, he is worshiped by Surendhra, he is the essence of Veda and he is eulogized by Veda.  Oh! Jagannatha kindly shower your auspicious grace on us, he is Parambhrama, his eyes has the appearance of fully blossomed lotus flower petals, he resides on the peak of Neeladhri, his lotus feet are placed on the hood of serpent Anantha, he takes immense pleasure in the amorous sport with the yound maidens of Vraja and in the embrace of Radharani.  Oh! Jagannatha, kindly shower your auspicious grace on us, I do not request for Kingdom or possession of abundance of precious gems, or majestic palace, or attractive bride or bridegroom, I shall always ask for the fortune to eulogize your endless glories at all times.  Sri Jagannatha Ashtakam is highly propicious hymn should be recited during the early hours of dawn after following ablutions, it eradicates all the sins of the worshiper; ultimately resides in the supreme abode of Lord Vishnu.
