Pradosha Ashtakam – Sri Skandhapuranam - Lyrics and meanings

Oh! Being, I shall narrate the absolute truth for the well-being of afterlife, I shall narrate the essence of it, I shall describe the interpretations of Upanishadhs, it is for the welfare of the entire living beings in this Universe, therefore service to the lotus feet of Eshvara/supreme Lord Shiva is the most significant thing to perform, people who does not follow the worship of Gireesha who is the Lord of Mountains during the hours of Pradosham, who does not venerate or prostrate before Lord Shiva, ignorant who does not listen to the glorious verses of Shruthi, will be born as poorest in each and every births.  Whoever worships the lotus feet of  Lord Parameshvara with utmost faith and devotion during the hours of Pradosha would attain abundance of wealth and grains, virtuous offspring, and appropriate companion as wedded wife, worshiper would achieve good fortune in this world.  Supreme Lord Paramehvara  along with his consort Goddess Gauri who is the mother of three worlds, resides on the highest peak of mount Kailasa, seated on the golden and gem decorated throne, Shoolapani who is wielded in trident merrily prepares to perform cosmic dance during the hours of pradosha, all the deities surrounded will eulogizes the glories of supreme Lord, during these hours Vagdevi who is the Goddess of wisdom and speech will play melodious music on Veena, Shathamukha/Lord Indhra who have hundreds of faces will play melodious music on flute/Venu, Padmaja who is lotus born/Lord Bhrama patiently listen to it, Goddess Sri Mahalakshmi sings melodious music, Lord Vishnu plays divine percussion, all the deities surrounded will be performing service to supreme Lord Shiva who is Mridanipathi.  Gandharva, Yaksha, Pathaga, Uraga, Siddhas, Vidhyadhara, Amaras, Apsaras, Ganas, and all those living beings in the Universe comes closer to Lord Hara during the hours of Pradosha, worship of supreme Lord Shiva during the hours of Pradosha would bring the meritorious reward of worship of all the deities, worship of Suradhinatha who is the Lord of Lords would bring the pieties of worship of Lord Vishnu and Lord Bhramana and all the deities.  The illustrious Bhramins who are born with the abundance of meritorious deeds obtained in their previous births would perform righteous deeds remains blissful, Bhramins with distressed children and family should surrender to the lotus feet of Lord Shankara who symbolizes auspiciousness, to get freed from the various sins.
