Sri Arya Ashtoththarashathanama Sthothram – Lyrics and meanings

The hundred and eight sacred names of Goddess Sri Arya was composed by Rishi Mareecha Kashyapa, it has Thrishutp as Chandhass, and the presiding deity is Goddess Sri Arya Durga, I shall prostrate before supreme Goddess  Durga who has three eyes, she is adorned in crescent moon on the magnificent crown, she has originated from the fire, she resides in  the lustrous abode resembles to lightning, she is the consort of Lord of living beings/Mrigapathi, she represents five essential elements, she is formidable, she is youthful, she holds Khedam, dagger, chakra, Gadha, Asi, Shankha, bow and arrow, she is worshiped by all, she is store house of virtues.


I shall prostrate before supreme Goddess Durga who has personified as Arya who is most excellent , noble , respectable, she is Karthyayani who is the daughter of Sage Kathyayana, she is Gauri who has fair complexion, she is  Kumari who is always youthful, she is Vindhyavasini who resides in highest peak of Mount Vindhyachala,  she is Vageeshvari who is Goddess of speech,  she is Mahadevi who is supreme Goddess,  she is Kali who has dreadful appearance, she is decked in garlands of bones and serpent as ornament, she is fierce, she has strong shank, she is Maheshvari who is wielded in Khadvanga, she is Chandi who is passionate, she is alarming, she is the slayer of demon Mahisha, she is the protector of Universe and its living beings, she is the Empress of the supreme abode Kailash, she has dark cloud complexion, she represents ether, amorous sport, passionate sport, amusement, ray of light, and fragrance, she has personified as Durga, and Gandhari who is the princes of Kingdom of Gandhara, she initiates conflicts, she is dreadful, she has personified as Mahakali who is formidable, and Bhadhrakali, she has embodied as sacred rivers, she is adorned in flower garlands, she inflicts pain, mercilessly chop off and  perforate the wicked people, she has dark cloud complexion, she is prime commander who leads powerful army of warriors in the battle field, she is presiding deity in villages, she represents sleep, she rides on celestial vehicle, she has the speed of wind, she is spontaneous, she produces great sounds, she is wielded in powerful weapon Vajra, she symbolizes auspiciousness, she is supreme Goddess of subjects of the Kingdom, she is Karali who holds powerful sword, she is Bhairavi who is beloved consort of Lord Bhairava, she is Raudrani who is beloved consort of Lord Rudra, she is wrathful and produces deafening noises and laughs, she is decked in garland of skulls, she is Chamunda who is one of the Sapthamathas, she is Rakthachamunda who is fond of sacrifices, she has dreadful as well as most marvelous appearance too, she has unique as well as great appearance, she has supremely gorgeous form too, she has great splendor, she has no birth, she is victorious, she has diversified forms, she is unconquerable,  she is Aparajitha, she has embodied as Dharani/Earth,  she is Dhathri who is the protector of Universe and its living beings, she is liberal, Vasundhara/Earth, kingdom, soil , wealth as well, she is the purifier of soul, she has the luster of precious yellow metal, her eyes are blood red in color, she has reddish brown matted hair locks, she is mounted on celestial vehicle lion, she has personified as Dhakshayani who is daughter of Dhakshaprajapathi, she symbolizes triumph, she is absolute truth, she has personified as Vani who is Goddess of speech,  Arundhathi who is chaste wife of Sage Vashishta, Kaushiki/Durga,  and Mahalakshmi, she symbolizes supreme  wisdom and knowledge, supreme intellect, Sankhya philosophies, Trinities,  and  female force of Thripuranthaka /Thripurari, she has personified as Saraswathi who is Goddess of wisdom and knowledge, Bhrami who is the female force of Lord Bhrama and she resides on the tongue of Lord Bhrama,  she has three eyes, she has embodied as Narasimhi who has lion face and she is the female force of Lord Narasimha, Varahi who has the face of wild boar and she is the female force of Varaha, she has personified as Indhrani who is the female force of Lord Indhra, Parvathi who is the beloved consort of Lord Shiva, she is the mother of Veda, she represents ascetic, sacrifices, preceptor, dawn, and  Siddha, she is highly confidential, she is beyond human intellect, she is not perceivable through senses, she has personified as Uma who is beloved consort of Lord Shiva, she is Ambika, and   Bhramari, she is extremely valorous, she produces deafening sounds of Humkara, she is Narayani, she has embodied as Universe and its living beings, she resides in the highest peak of Mount Meru, she is the safest heaven to the distress and desolate people who are surrendered at her lotus feet, she has three eyes, she is Bhagavathi who symbolizes auspiciousness, she is Goddess Arya/Durga who is adorned in crescent moon on marvelous crown.
