Sri Guru Gita – Sri Skandhapuranam Uththarakhanda Umamaheshwara Samvadham – The Guru Padhodhaka is sacred as waters of Ganga which purifies the mind and intellect of the worshiper

Chapter – 9 – Sri Guru Gita – 81 – 90

Lord Mahadeva speaks “I shall prostrate before the supreme preceptor who symbolizes Universe/Bhramam, Guru is none other the Bhramam, the Universe dwells in the heart of Guru and vice versa. I shall prostrate before the supreme Preceptor who guides the Jeeva caught in the middle of Bhavaranya/dense wood of worldly existence, perplexed and worn out of delusion, drenched in the interest in worldly matters and bondage, became completely exhausted and hopeless, finding no way to get out of the miseries and sorrows of the worldly existence. I shall prostrate before the supreme Preceptor, who purifies the Jeeva drenched in the Thapathraya/ Adhideivika, Adhibhauthika, and Adhyathmika, thereby completely worn out, and lost serenity of the mind. The preceptor purifies the intellect of the Jeeva with the knowledge of Bhramam like sacred water Ganga. I shall prostrate before supreme preceptor who symbolizes Vidhyaswaroopa Bhagavan/Lord of wisdom, he cures the Jeeva who was bitten by the venomous serpent-like ignorance/Vishayavisha/interest in worldly matters and bondage, I and body consciousness, excessive desires and attachment to material matters, possession, richness, wealth, fame, money, children, wife, companion, and relatives, etc. I shall prostrate before the supreme preceptor who symbolize Shambhu, he is the supreme Bhramam who is the cause of the Universe and its living and non-living things, he is the safest bridge to cross the unfathomable ocean of worldly existence, he is the essence of knowledge in Agama Nigama Shastra and all art forms. Oh! Devi, the fruitfulness in the meditation and contemplation can be achieved only with the grace of Guru, the sincere veneration at the lotus feet of Guru would provide the fruitfulness of the worship, the superior among the Manthra/Mahamanthra is Gurumanthra that can be achieved with the nearness to the Guru, and the Mukthi can be achieved with the grace of Guru. The Gurupadhodhaka/the consumption of even a drop of water that was used to wash the feet of the preceptor would provide the piousness of the holy dip in the all those rivers that confluences in the Sapthasagara/seven oceans. Oh! Devi, even the wrath of Lord Shiva can get rid with the grace of Guru, but the wrath of Guru is impossible to get relieved. Therefore, the Jeeva should surrender to the Kulaguru/preceptor of the clan, and get rid of the wrath of Guru. The honey bees approach several flowers in search for the nectar and they keep chasing flowers until and unless they get satisfied, in the same manner, the spiritual seeker who is not satisfied with the knowledge of Paramarththa Thaththva keeps chases for the Guru. I shall prostrate before the lotus feet of Guru who is beyond Vak, Manas/words and mind symbolizes Shivashakthiswaroopa  and whose feet have the white and reddish color.”
