Chapter – 225- Sur -Vinaya – Pathrika –
Sri Surdas
Maharaj speaks “Oh! Thribhuvanapathi/The Lord of three worlds, Lord of Universe and its living and non-living things, Oh! Prabho, Oh!
Sri Hari, I am a grave sinner, if you look upon my sins committed by words,
mind, and action, you will never forgive me. Oh! Prabho, my mind is drenched in
lust, desire, ego, anger, pride, jealousy, Ahamkara, and Mamakara, I have committed
various sins from the moment I have taken birth to till date, and even after
all these, I have not been satisfied yet. I have not developed Bhakti/devotion,
Gnana/wisdom, and Vairagya/renunciation, Oh! Prabho, I am ignorant and dull-minded,
and the impurities of my mind have driven me afar from the worship of Lord Sri
Hari, I did not achieve the supreme wisdom/The absolute Truth,/soul is
imperishable and all the material matters are perishable/ Soul is
Sacchidhanandha Swaroopa Paramathma Parambhramam resides as a soul in the Jeeva,
is indestructible Purusha. The diversified material matters of sound, smell,
touch, passion, and appearance are destructible Prakrithi. Oh! Prabho, I did
not follow the instructions of Veda or scriptures, I did not practice
austerities, penance, Japa, Thapa, Yajja, Shama, Dhama, Sathyam, Dhaya,
Dhyanam, Dhanam, Astheyam, Arjjavam, Thithiksha, Ahimsa, etc. I did not visit
sacred lands and observe austerities and vows. Oh! Prabho, my mind resembles
the Kamanaroopi forest that was filled with the thorns of lust and desire, I
did not see the path of righteousness, devotion, wisdom, and renunciation/Bhakti,
Gnana, and Vairagya, I have been chasing after wealth, possession, richness,
money, fame, children, wife, companion and relatives, of fleeting nature. Oh!
Prabho, you are the knower of All, omnipresent, omniscient, and omnipotent
supreme Bhramam resides as a soul in the Jeeva, you are the source of the
functioning of the mind, intellect, Chiththa, Ahamkara, Prana, Karma, and
Gnanendhriyas, etc. Oh! Prabho, I am distressed, aimlessly wandering in
different wombs due to my ignorance, and constantly suffering from
Thapathraya/three kinds of grief, kindly provide shelter at your lotus feet.”
