Sri Hariharaputhra Ashtoththarashathanama Sthothram – Lyrics and meanings

Sri Hariharaputhra Ashtoththara Shathanamasthothra was composed by Rishi Bhrama, Anushtup as its chandhass, Hariharaputhra is presiding deity, Hreem as Beejam, Sreem as Shakthi, Kleem as Keelakam, and  it is recited to please Lord Hariharaputhra.

I shall meditate upon Lord Dharmashastha who is the son of Hari and Hara, his lotus feet are capable to provide auspiciousness in three folds, he is wielded in Vajra and Manikyadandam, sugarcane bow and flower arrows, he carries a vessel that contains necatar and ghee mixture on his lotus hands, he is the essence of sacred hymns.


I shall meditate upon Lord Maha Shastha/mighty Lord, most praised, fortunate, beautiful, auspicious, Vishvashastha who augment the happiness and prosperity of the Universe, Lokashastha who enhance the auspiciousness in the world, Dharmashastha who augments righteousness , Vedashastha who symbolizes Veda, Kalashastha who represents Time, Gajadhipa who is the commander of elephants, he is mounted on elephant/Gajarooda, he is the commander of Ganas/Ganadhyaksha, he is mounted on lion/Vyaghrarooda, he has supreme radiance/Mahadhyuthi, he is highly confidential, he is eulogized by dieites,  he is superior among the Ganas, he symbolizes Rigveda, galaxy, Chandhra, he represents rain clouds, mountain, Dhurva/sacred grass, he has magnificent and fierce form too, he is Anamaya/shiva, devoid impurities, he have three eyes,  he carries water lily on his hands /Uthpalakara, he has won over death, he is the commander of living beings/Naradhipa, he is son of Lord Hara who is decked in crescent moon on matted hair locks, he has the luster flowers of Kalhara, he resembles to God of Love, he is the son of Madhava, he is worshiped with the flowers of Mandhara, he is powerful, highly enthusiastic, he is the destroyer of sins of worshiper, he is extremely valorous, he is extremely courageous, he is adorned in venomous serpents as ornaments, he is wielded in bow of sugarcane and arrows of flowers, he is the son of Halahaladhara who is adorned in  toxic poision on his throat, he is the Lord of Arjuna, his eyes has the resemblance to Agni, he resembles to cupid of love, he is the commander of planets that causes evilness, he symbolizes wealth, he is the protector of  distressed people, he is beutifully decorated with Kasthuri on his forehead, he belongs to the illustrious clan of kings, he is worshiped by kings, he is son of Lord Vishnu, he is the Lord of woods/forester, he has great effulgence, he is the provider of abundance of boons to worshiper, he has the swiftness of wind and he has wind as celestial vehicle, his limbs has the resemblance to Vajra, he carries weapons of Vajra and Gadga, he is mighty Lord, he is omnipresent, he is powerful, he is inseparable from his consort Pushkala, he is the purifier of souls, he is the Lord of Pushkala, he is flawless, he is wielded in Pasha, he eradicates the fears in worshiper, he symbolizes sacred syllable ‘Phat’, he eradicates the sins of the worshiper, he destroys impious, false doctrines, and hypocrisy, he protected Panchapandava from perils, he is beyond description, he venerates Panchakshara, he is the son of Panchavakthra/who has five faces, he is most venerable, he is wise, he is Parameshvara, he eradicates miseries and sorrows of Samsara, he fulfils the desires of the worshiper, he represents poetic skills, he is the commander of poets, he is kind, he is the destroyer of miseries and sorrows, he is impartial, he is great warrior, he is the provider wealth to his worshiper, he is wielded in the skin of tiger, he carries trident, and spear, he takes immense pleasure in playing melodious music on flute, he has conch shaped neck, he has sweet voice, he is decorated in marvelous crown and various ornaments, he is Dhurjadi, he is valorous and he is worshiped by warriors, he has colossal form, he is Lord of bull, he fulfils all the desires of the worshiper, he has long nose,  four powerful arms, and matted hair locks, he is eulogized by illustrious Sanakadhi Rishis, he is Hariharathmaja who is the son of Lord Hari and Hara.
