Sri Vinaya Patrika – Sri Tulsidas Maharaj – The Rama Nama Japa for Bhukthi and Mukthi – Sharanagathi for getting rid of anxiousness, fear of Samsara, sufferings of worldly existence, and the vicious cycle of rebirth

Chapter - 76 -Sri Vinaya Pathrika  -  The Ramanama Japa for Bhukthi and Mukthi – Sharanagathi for getting rid of anxiousness, fear of Samsara, sufferings of worldly existence and the  vicious cycle of rebirth

Sri Tulsidas Maharaj speaks “Oh! Jeeva, you have attained the rarest birth as a human, which is difficult to obtain even for the deities, after all these, you have kept yourself afar from the supreme Lord Sri Ramachandra. Oh! Jeeva, most parts of your life have been spent taking pleasure in the material matters, richness, wealth, money, fame, possession, attachment to wife, children, relatives, and companion, without the knowledge that all the material matters undergo the constant transformation and ruin/fleeting nature. Oh! Jeeva, you have been chasing the material pleasure and bodily pleasure of Samsara like Mrigathrishna/reflection of water in the desert which cannot quench the thirst, you cannot get satisfied with it, on the other hand, your greed did not stop a bit.  Oh! Jeeva, you have drenched in impurities of Kama, Krodha, Lobha, Moha, Madha, Mathshcharya, swollen with Ahamkara and Mamakara, and excessive interest in the Shabdha, Sparsha, Rasa, Roopa and Gandha. Oh! Jeeva, you have achieved birth in the superior clan and attractive body to earn Dharma, Arththa, Kama, and Moshka/Purusharththa.   The intellectuals, wise, Mahathma utilizes the birth in the superior clan and attractive body to achieve Paramapadham/supreme abode, and gest freed from the vicious cycles of rebirth, alas! you have mistaken these components and utilized them for achieving material welfare and bodily pleasure. The prominent Bharathvarsha is the heart of Sanathana Dharma, you have Devanadhi Ganga surrounded by the beautiful landscape of rich natural beauty, where Santh Mahathma gathers in huge numbers to conduct Athmachinthan and Athma Manthan. Oh! Ignorant Jeeva, you have not found interest in the Sadhusanth Samagama/association with the Mahatmas, you have desired to consume the fruit of Vishayavisharoopi Janma and Marana. You have not used any of the Sadhana to purify yourself from the vicious cycles of the rebirth of impurities of the mind, even after achieving all these beautiful opportunities, you have not utilized for good, instead, you have polluted them. Oh! Jeeva, listen to me carefully about the Paramarththa Thaththva, which could bring Bhukthi and Mukthi as well. The Veda eulogizes Lord Sri Ramachandra, Veda is the essence of the all-pervasive Supreme Lord. Oh! Ignorant, leave playing with the Vishayavisharoopi venomous serpent, it won’t leave you unhurt. The all-pervasive Paramathma Parambhramam resides as a soul in you is the sole cause for the functioning of the mind, intellect, Chithth, Ahamkara, Prana, Karma and Gnanendhriyas, it is pure, eternal bliss, changeless, unblemished, free from afflictions, and it has neither birth nor death, hence leave your interest in worldly matters and bondage, and surrender to that Paramathma who is eternal bliss. Oh! Ignorant, the Athmaroopi/Lord Ramachandra introduced you to father, mother, preceptor, wife, children, relatives, and companion, alas! you have forgotten the very Paramathma who is the source of Prana. You have vested interest in the relationships you have formed, and completely forgotten the magnanimous Prabhu Paramathma who resides as a soul in you and did not recognize the Parambhramam Sacchidhanandhaswaroopa Paramathma in you. Oh! Jeeva, the compassionate Lord Hari is not far from you, he resides in your heart.  Whoever abandons the wickedness, Ahamkara Mamakara and take shelter at him would achieve the grace of him. Oh! Ignorant, you have abandoned the Paramathma Parambhramam and cemented your relationships with the people and material matters that have impermanent nature, and whenever it gets destroyed and separated, you have been pushed to extreme distress and sorrow. Oh! Jeeva, leave your ignorance and illusions and perceive that Sacchindhanandhaswaroopa Paramathma in your heart, he is keenly observing you and waiting to shower compassionate grace upon you. The Supreme Lord who resides as the soul is the protector of Jeeva, whoever sings in praise of him would be praised by that Lord, he is Jagadheeshwara, and source of Prana as well. The supreme Lord Raghunatha is Janakinath, he is the essence of Lord Bhrama, Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva, he is Anandhaswaroopa Paramathma resides as a soul in you. He is Lord of Lords, Lord of the Universe and its living and non-living things, although he is too kind and compassionate to his devotees. Oh! Jeeva, the supreme Lord Raghunatha is beloved of Lord Shiva, he is too amiable, embraced the Kevat/ferryman shed tears of joy and immersed in a state of ecstasy. The Siddhas, Muniganas, Santhvrindh affirms that Lord Raghunatha gets highly pleased with the love of His devotees, no other deities get easily pleased like him. He dearly loved the Pakshiraj Jatayu, Vanaras/Hanuman, Shabari, Rakshas/Vibheeshana, Jambhavan etc. and admired them, whenever he recollects their love, he becomes shy and speechless. Oh! Jeeva, I have described the most impressive, pleasant, kind, and compassionate nature of that supreme Lord Sri Raghunath, mark my words and always carries it in your heart, and remember him so that all your anxiousness will get disappeared. The supreme Lord Raghunath would be highly pleased with your devotion, surrender at his lotus feet, abandoning interest in worldly matters, Ahamkara and Mamakara. Oh! Tulsidas, take shelter at the lotus feet of Sri Ramachandra with intense devotion and faith, you could perceive that all-pervasive Parambhramam Paramathma in you, practice reciting Ramanama Japa, worship Lord Rama and sing the glories and virtues of Ramachandra, and completely surrender to him with mind, deed, and words at the lotus feet of Jagadheeshwara Lord Sri Ramachandra, be a Bhramara/honey bee that take pleasure at the lotus feet of Lord Sri Ramachandra, and fearlessly travel all over the Earth.”

Sri Vinaya Pathrika – Sri Tulsidas Maharaj – Sharanagathi

Chapter - 75 -Sri Vinaya Pathrika  -  Sharanagathi

Sri Tulsidas Maharaj speaks “ Oh! Deva, I am so overwhelmed with your kindness and compassion at your devotees, you cannot bear the sufferings and sorrows of them, you are Pranatharththahari, immediately remove the grief and sufferings of them. Lord Indra, Lokapala, and the deities, Kubera were troubled by Ravana, Oh! Kripalu, you did not even think a second to abandon your supreme abode and celestial pleasures and personified as Dhasharathanandhan Ram on the Earth. Maharishi Vishwamithra who was harassed by the demons in the woods, Gautam Pathni Devi Ahalya who was cursed and continued as a rock for several thousand years, and King Dhasharatha who was distressed due to lack of progeny, they were under extreme anguish, did they perform any Sadhana to get relieved from the grief? Oh! Nath, Guha Nishadh, Pakshiraj Jatayu, Shabari who was born in the lowly clan did not achieve the devotion or austerities by birth, all that they have attained the nearness of your lotus feet, and got rid of their sins and impurities, eventually got liberated, sometimes even the trees that did not give any fruits for several years starts flowering during the auspicious period. Sugreevah who was crowned as the King of Kishkindha after Bali got killed, and Vibheeshana who is the younger brother to Ravana took Sharanagathi at the lotus feet of Rama, eventually, Ravana got killed in the battle and Vibheeshana was crowned as King of Lanka, both of them were grieved over the death of their brothers. Oh! Ram, Vibheeshana, and Sugreevah were lamented over the death of their brothers were pacified by you and you have considered them as equal as your younger brother Bharatha. Hanuman who served you sincerely, became an ardent devotee, later whoever praises Kapeeshwara/Hanuman would achieve an abundance of the grace of you. Oh! Bhagavan, why did it happen? You get easily pleased with the humility, sincerity, devotion of your devotees, you cannot bear the grief, and distress of them. Oh! Dheenabandho, Jeeva does not know your kindness and compassion, that is the reason they approach/Heenasadhana/ forbidden practices to achieve supernatural powers, eventually meets a terrible end. Oh! Prabho, whoever understands the truth, you are Pranatharaththi, /will not leave the devotees in grief, distress, agony, and  whoever takes shelter at your lotus feet would get rid of sufferings of worldly existence, impurities of Kama, Krodha, Lobha, Moha, Madha, Mathshcharya, Ahamkara, Mamakara, interest in Shabdha, Roopa, Sparsha, Rasa, Gandha, etc. Oh! Prabho, I am Tulsi, have abandoned  all my wickedness and I have taken your shelter at your lotus feet and ultimately achieved  the serenity of mind.”

Sri Vinaya Patrika – Sri Tulsidas Maharaj – Samsara is Mrigathrishna - The Paramathma/cowherd fastens the Pashuroopi Jeevathma with the rope of Paramarththa Thaththva

Chapter - 74 -Sri Vinaya Patrika  -  Samsara is Mrigathrishna - The Paramathma/cowherd fastens the Pashuroopi Jeevathma with the rope of Paramarththa Thaththva

Sri Tulsidas Maharaj speaks “Oh! Jeeva, you have been afar from the lotus feet of Sri Ramachandra, and you have wasted the whole life, getting attached to the material matters, wealth, richness, money, fame, possessions, attachment to wife, children, family, relatives, companions, etc. without knowing the Ahamkara and Mamakara on the above-said material matters and people are impermanent and have fleeting nature, there is no assurance that it would be with you till the end of your life. How much happiness you have achieved from the above-said worldly matters? Are you satisfied with it? Oh! Ignorant, you never get satisfied with the interest in material welfare and bodily pleasure. You have been flowing through the different Yonis of birds, animals, reptiles, and humans, and have taken several births and had gone through the endless miseries and sorrows, due to your ignorance, insatiable desires and lust, hence now on correct yourself from the mistakes you have committed. Oh! Jeeva, you have earned the rarest birth as a human with the Prarabdha Karma you have achieved, do not waste it, leave your desire to climb up on the pinnacle of the sky, and no one dared to do it, the worldly matters are infinite, your greed to chase these worldly matters of infinite Nama Roopa Dhrishya will not be successful. Oh! Tulsi, if you earn for eternal bliss, free from afflictions, fear and trepidations, then sing in praise of various glorious legends of Lord Rama and take shelter at the lotus feet of Lord Sri Ramachandra.”

Sri Tulsidas Maharaj continues “Oh! Jeeva, I am repeatedly cautioning you with the most promising, pure, honest words, why do not you get into your mind? Ponder over it and follow the righteous way, take shelter at the lotus feet of Lord Ramachandra. The Samsara is the storehouse of diversified matter like good and bad, evil and pious, who do not want to achieve goodness in their lives? No one is free from happiness and sorrow, the supreme Lord Bhrama who is the creator, and the living things are bound to undergo happiness and sorrow, even the Keeta and Pathanga are not freed from it. The Jeevathma are Pashuroopi who is bound by ignorance and impurities, and the Paramathma Parambhramam is the cowherd fasten the Jeeva with the knowledge of Paramarththa, eventually, the Pashuroopi Jeevathma get rid of the Karma. The interest in worldly matters and attachment to the material matters and people are a burden, in fact, there is no happiness in it, the ignorant find pleasure in it, Oh! Ignorant Jeeva, you have been suffering from worldly existence so long and hurling again and again into the vicious cycles of rebirth due to your ignorance, desires, and lust. Oh! Jeeva, no one gets satisfied or quenched their thirst from the Mrigathrishna/reflection of the water in the desert, Samsara is Mrigathrishna, it is an illusion/Maya,  and there is nothing real other than Paramathma resides as a soul in the Jeeva. Oh! Tulsi, you take shelter at the lotus feet of Lord Sri Ramachandra, that could bring eternal bliss and serenity of mind.”

Sri Vinaya Pathrika – Sri Tulsidas Maharaj – The Ramanama Japa to get rid of Papasamooha - Sharanagathi & Ramanama Japa for the serenity of mind

Chapter - 73 -Sri Vinaya Patrika  - The Ramanama Japa to get rid of Papasamooha – Sharanagathi & Rama Nama Japa for the serenity of mind

Sri Tulsidas Maharaj speaks “Oh! Jeeva, the recitation of Ramanama would bring auspiciousness and happiness in the life, ultimately the sins and evilness of Kaliyuga disappear from your life. Oh! Mind, clearly understand one thing, no one has achieved the fruit of mango by sowing the seeds of Baboola, the life of a human is very rare to achieve, and if you spend immoral ways, getting attached to material matters, money, fame, richness, possession, wealth, family, children, wife, relatives and companion, Ahamkara and Mamakara, etc. it will not bring happiness or auspiciousness in the Ihaloka/life on Earth and Paraloka/life after Earth. Hence, listen to my words carefully, do not spend your precious time on the interest in worldly matters and bondage, and practice the recitation of Ramanama Japa. Oh! Mind, you are not independent, you are always bound by the  Kala/Time, Karma/deed, Guna/attributes of Sathvik, Rajasic, and Thamasik, the eternal truth is that all the material matters/Prakrithi and life on the Earth undergoes transformation and ruin, the Athman is Paramathma resides as the soul is the cause of the functioning of mind, intellect, Chithth, Ahamkara, Karma and Gnanendhriyas etc. is indestructible Purusha. Oh! Jeeva, you have no control on Kala/time, Karma/deeds, and Guna/attributes, that are the cause for the sufferings and miseries of worldly existence, the moment you start reciting the Ramanama and his endless glories, the Kala, Karma, and Guna leave their influence on you. Every one craves to achieve Sidhdhi/supernatural powers without taking up any austerities or hard work, how it would be possible? The Kali era has taken control of the virtues, disciplines, moralities of the Jeeva, therefore no one is freed from the accumulated sins, the only way to get rid of these Papasamooha is practice the Sri Ramanama Japa. The love and belief in the recitation of Ramanama would destroy Kalimalagrasitha Jeeva/drenched in impurities of Kama, Krodha, Lobha, Moha, Madha, Mathshcharya,  and Shabdha, Roopa, Rasa, Sparsha, Gandha, ultimately it would bring the serenity of mind. The recitation of Ramanama liberated the sinner Ramari Dhashagreevah, and the impurities of Tulsidas and purified him.”

Sri Tulsidas Maharaj continues “Oh! Jeeva, the fruitfulness of life is the practice of sincere love and devotion at the lotus feet of Lord Sri Ramachandra, and the recitation of Ramanama Japa which would bring all the righteousness in the life. The Veda and scriptures highly recommend austerities, Japa, Tapa, Yaga, Yoga, Gnana, Vairagya, and various religious and spiritual rites, that are extremely good, but difficult to perform in the Kali Yuga. Oh! Tulsidas, do not keep false apprehension, you are not independent, you are the servant of that supreme Bhramam resides as a soul in you, hence surrender at the lotus feet of Paramathma Paramabhramam Sri Ramachandra, it would bring fruitfulness to your life.”

Sri Vinaya Pathrika – Sri Tulsidas Maharaj – The significance of Ramanama Japa

Chapter - 72 -Sri Vinaya Patrika  - The significance of Ramanama Japa

Sri Tulsidas Maharaj speaks “Oh! Mind, listen to my words, contemplate and meditate upon the Supreme Lord Sri Janaki Vallabha Sri Ram and take refuge at his lotus feet, there is no other way to get rid of sufferings of the worldly existence, Ahamkara Mamakara, Kama, Krodha, Lobha, Moha, Madha, Mashcharya, and interest in worldly matters and bondage like Shabdha, Sparsha, Rasa, Roopa and Gandha. The practice of austerities, Japa, Thapa, holy dip in Theertha and visiting shrines, Yoga, vow of celibacy, Shamadhamadhi, Sathyam, Dhaya, Shaucham, Shama, Dhama, Swadhyaya, Athmavichara etc. are extremely difficult to perform in the Kali era, the purity of the performer,  and the purity of the ingredients used for the Yaga has been disappeared, hence the fruitfulness of the Yaga has become impossible to achieve, hence, even after the performance of various spiritual and religious rites, the fruitful results and the destruction of sins  becomes impossible, ultimately the Jeeva  hurls into sufferings and accumulates the sins, like the demon Rakthabeeja who was battled against Devi Adishakthi, Paramba, Bhagavathi in the vicious fight, each drop of the blood fallen from his body on the Earth has created multiples of Rakthabeeja. In this way, while making an effort to earn the Punya, the Jeeva accumulates the Papa of double the size. Oh! Tulsidas, take shelter at the lotus feet of Lord Ram, one thing is certain that the Paparoopi demons can be destroyed only with the Punyaroopi grace of the Supreme Lord Ramachandra. The Kriparoopi grace of Lord is Goddess Kalika who is the slayer of  Paparoopi demon Rakthabeeja, hence take the shelter at the lotus feet of Lord Sri Ramachandra.”

Sri Tulsidas Maharaj continues “Oh! Tongue, why don’t you recite the Ramanama? Oh! Tongue, the recitation of Ramanama would provide welfare and happiness, and it would destroy sins and inauspiciousness. The recitation of Ramanama does not require any hard work, it is the easiest method to achieve piousness in the Kali era. It would remove grave and dreadful sins committed in the Kali era like the sunlight removes the darkness of the night. Oh! Jeeva, the Sadhanas, Japa, Thapa, austerities, the vow of silence and celibacy, Swadhyaya, Shamadhamadhi, etc. will not give any fruitful results without the recitation of Ramanama, hence, the Sadhana without the Ramanamaruchi would be the futile effort to shackle the untamed elephant with the rope made of dust, therefore, without the Ramanama recitation, it is impossible to achieve the nearness to Paramathma Parambhramam resides as a soul. Oh! Jeeva, you have discarded the Chinthamaniroopi precious Ramanama and rushed after the Vishayavisharoopi glass pieces, that could bring constant miseries and sorrows.”

Sri Vinaya Patrika – Sri Tulsidas Maharaj – The significance of Bhakthi, Gnana, Vairagya

Chapter - 71 -Sri Vinaya Pathrika  - The significance of Bhakthi, Gnana, Vairagya

Sri Tulsidas Maharaj speaks “ Oh! Mind, if you want to restore the shrine of Lord Raghunatha built in your heart, listen to me carefully. Oh! Mind, all you need to remember the mercy and love showered in abundance by the supreme Lord from the day you have deposited in the womb of your mother, and the growth you have achieved each and every second under the constant care and protection of that supreme Lord, and the struggles you have gone through in your mother’s womb. Oh! Mind, abandon your Ahamkara, Mamakara, lust, desire, ego, pride, jealousy, arrogance, anger, and attachment on the material matters, people and possession, and sincerely undertake the austerities, Japa, vow of celibacy, silence, Shamadhamadi, Sathyam, Dhaya, Shaucham, Swadhyaya, Athmavichara etc. and selflessly serve Lord Raghunatha, preceptors, and Santhvrindh. Oh! Mind, get rid of Dhvandhabhava/the dualities of happiness and sorrow, respect and disrespect, gain and loss, grief and joy, then all your troubles will disappear. Oh! Fool, the body you have taken pride in it is a mere mass of secrete and has fleeting nature, it undergoes aging, illness, and finally meets death. The pride you have built in the possession of material matters and attachment to wife, children, relatives, and companion are under the strong seize of ‘Time’, and it is impermanent. I am Tulsidas, have already taken shelter at the lotus feet of Sri Raghunath, Oh! Mind, stop acting like a fool, Kapata Samadhi, performance of religious and spiritual rite to show off, it won’t help to achieve Lord Raghunatha, therefore serve the lotus feet of Raghunatha with pure love and devotion.”

Sri Tulsidas Maharaj continues “I have realized that I have no true devotion and love at the lotus feet of Raghunatha, because I have not practiced Bhakthi, Gnana, and Vairagya. I have not achieved any of these not even in my dreams, I have completely drenched in the interest in worldly matters and bondage, I have constantly chased after material and bodily pleasure, hence I did not practice devotion or observed any austerities. Whoever practiced pure love and devotion at the lotus feet of Lord Ram, would easily abandon the interest in worldly matters and bondage, get rid of interest in Shabdha, Sparsha, Rasa, Roop, and Gandha. The Jeeva who is bitten by the Kamaroopi venomous serpent won’t find any dislike to Vishayavisha of Samsara, they keep chasing after the material welfare and bodily pleasure does not get discouraged, even after getting severely battered by the constant grief, humiliation, pain of separation and loss of wealth and possession, etc. I feel pity for those ignorant Jeeva, and I am deeply worried about them. Oh! Tulsidas, the grief and sufferings of worldly existence cannot get destroyed without the grace of the Lord Sri Ramachandra.”

Sri Vinaya Pathrika – Sri Tulsidas Maharaj – The mind is the reservoir of emotions - The significance of Athmajjana/knowledge of self to get rid of redundant thoughts

Chapter - 70 -Sri Vinaya Patrika  - The mind is the reservoir of emotions - The significance of Athmajjana/knowledge of self to get rid of redundant thoughts

Sri Tulsidas Maharaj speaks “The Dhvaithabhava/dualities, illusion, fears and anxieties of Samsara, the grief of separation and loss of wealth, are caused due to the various emotions which are nothing but Moha Mayajanitha perceptions.  The illusion causes us to consider people as companions, Udhaseena/neutral and enemies, in fact, there is neither enemy nor companion, and it is the same as the trepidation caused by the rope mistaken as a serpent. Although these are the Mayajanitha Kalpana/illusion, the Shathru/enemies should be abandoned forever like the serpent that spews venom, the companions should be embraced as the precious ornaments, and Udhaseena/neutral should be avoided like Trina/grass. The precious gems can be used for getting a sumptuous meal, royal garments, and cows, in the same manner, the concept of heaven, hell, three worlds, Chara and Achara exists in the mind of the Jeeva. The human mind has the capabilities to achieve heavenly pleasure as well as hellish torture with its righteous and immoral deeds respectively. The immoral deeds provide grief and sufferings, and the righteous deeds provide happiness and serenity of the mind. The ignorant Jeeva soaked in material matters, wealth, richness, money, fame, possession, attachment to children, wife, relatives, and companion undergo constant grief of loss and separation of people or material matters, loss serenity of mind, thereby get troubled by redundant thoughts.  The Athmajjani abandon the interest in worldly matters and bondage, free of impurities of the mind, Ahamkara, and Mamakara, undertake austerities Japa, Thapa, Swadhyaya, Shamadhamadhi, etc., and live-in supreme bliss, the mind free from redundant thoughts. The rarest birth as a human is not for taking pleasure in the worldly matters and bondage, it has to be utilized to achieve the Paramarththa Thaththva/knowledge of self. The mind is the reservoir of various emotions and it comes out in the unexpected moment are same as the clothing have no existence without the thread, the mud pot has no existence without the mud. Oh! Prabho, when did I get relieved from the various emotions? When did I get purified my intellect with the constant remembrance of lotus feet of Raghunatha? Then I would achieve serenity of mind, and get freed from redundant thoughts. The knowledge of indestructible Purusha Paramathma Paramabhramam resides as the soul is eternal, changeless, pure, free from afflictions, bliss, has neither birth nor death, would remove my illusion and various emotions as well.”

Sri Tulsidas Maharaj continues “Oh! Raghunath, Oh! Dheera, Oh! Hithakari, who always assure the welfare of the universe, I have abandoned you, as a result, I have drenched in the Samsararoopi Vishayavisha, eventually I have ended into constant miseries and sorrows, whom did I speak about my miserable state? Oh! Nath, my heart is the dwelling place of you, unfortunately, I have polluted your dwelling place with the Ahamkara Mamakara, Kama, Krodha, Lobha, Madha, Moha, and Mathshcharya, and impurities of Shabdha Sparsha, Rasa, Roop, and Gandh, are the dangerous thieves, stolen away from the serenity of my mind. Oh! Prabho, your shrine in my heart is destroyed by these thieves, even though I have made futile attempts to push them out, they are too heartless and adamant I have failed on them miserably. These thieves of impurities do not listen to my humble words, these thieves are Ajjan/ignorance, Moha/desire, and lust, Lobha, Ahamkara, Madha/arrogance, Krodha/anger, etc. have stolen the peace in me, Oh! Natha, these thieves know that I am an orphan and helpless, I am weak and these thieves are so powerful and countless, and I have no one to protect me from these merciless thieves. Oh! Nath, I cannot run away from them, they do not spare me. Oh! Raghunath, kindly protect me from these thieves who have taken custody of my heart which is the dwelling place of you. Oh! Ram, my heart is your dwelling place, if it was taken custody by the thieves it would add ill fame to you, I am not responsible for it, all that I am worried about that no one should blame you for letting these thieves inside your shrine. I am Tulsidas have already taken shelter at your lotus feet, while remaining in your protection if I was tortured by these thieves like Ahamkara, Mamakara, Kama, Krodha, Lobha, Moha, Madha, Mathshcharya, Shabdha, Sparasha, Rasa, Roop, and Gandha, it would bring ill fame to you. Hence, kindly take control of your shrine that was built in my heart, all by yourself.”

Sri Vinaya Pathrika – Sri Tulsidas Maharaj – The significance of Athmajjana/knowledge of self -Paramarththa Thaththva/Athmajjanam to remove the Avidhya Janitha Maya of Samsara - Jeevathma is Paramathma

Chapter -69 -Sri Vinaya Patrika  - The significance of Athmajjana/knowledge  of self -Paramarththa Thaththva/Athmajjanam to remove the Avidhya Janitha Maya of Samsara - Jeevathma is Paramathma

Sri Tulsidas Maharaj speaks “Oh! Hari, I do not know any Sadhana, austerities, vow, Swadhyaya, Shamadhamadhi, etc. which could remove the impurities of Kama, Krodha, Lobha, Moha, Madha, Mathshcharya, and ignorance. I am unfortunate, I have not taken the medicine to cure the interest in worldly matters and bondage, Ahamkara and Mamakara, and impurities of the mind. The Ajjanajanitha dosha/sins committed in ignorance cannot be cured without the knowledge of Paramarththa Thaththva, like the King had the dream of Bhramahathya after killing a twice-born conducted several thousands of Ashwamedha to get rid of the sin, but he could not get the serenity of mind even after performing crores of Yaga, the sufferings of Bhramahathya sin will not get disappeared until the King get out of the sleep, likewise, the Ajjanajanitha /Mahamoha, interest in worldly matters and bondage, Ahamkara and Mamakara cannot be destroyed without the knowledge of the destructible nature of Prakrithi and the indestructible Purusha resides as a soul in the Jeeva. The false idea of the serpent in the flower garland creates trepidation, the Avidhya Maya Janitha Sarpa is not real, hence whatever weapons used to pull out the snake from the flower garland will not work, in this way, the Ajjanajanitha Avidhya Maya cannot be destroyed without the knowledge of Paramarththa Thaththva. The Athmajjana/knowledge of self removes the interest in worldly matters and bondage, attachment to material matters, richness, wealth, money, fame, and people that have fleeting nature. The Samsara is Mayajanitha Mrigathrishna, the illusion that caused the ocean in the reflection of sunlight in the desert, the ignorant Jeeva chases after it and get killed off thirst. In the same manner, the ignorant Jeeva chases after material wellbeing, attachment to wife, children, relatives, and companion, with the hope that everything stays safe and sound till the end of the Kalpa, without the knowledge of impermanent nature of the living and non-living things in the Universe, in the meantime, get battered with the loss of wealth, fame and beloved people. The Samsara is a Mithyasagara/ an illusion caused by the bottomless ocean, the ignorant Jeeva who is drenched in the interest in worldly matters and bondage, Ahamkara, and Mamakara cannot cross the ocean and finally meets miserable death. Oh! Manushya, if you perform thousands and crores of Yajja, Japa, Thapa, Sadhana, with the Mamakara and Ahamkara, it is certain that you cannot cross the ocean of Samsara, ultimately hurl yourself into the vicious cycles of rebirth.”

Sri Tulsidas Maharaj continues “Oh! Raghuraya, Oh! Dhayalu, you are most promising to your devotees, Oh! Prabho, it is impossible to get rid of interest in worldly matters and bondage, Ahamkara and Mamakara, impurities of the mind, without your compassionate grace. Oh! Prabho, the simple earthen lamp lit in the night removes the darkness in the entire room, but the long hours of lectures of intellectuals on the various Shashthra cannot help to cross the ocean of worldly existence without the knowledge of Athmajjanam/Paramarththa Thaththva, knowledge of self. It would be like the person who is extremely tired of hunger, cannot appease with the letters of Kalpavruksha and Kamadhenu written on the floor. The practice of learning various Shastra without the knowledge of self would be like the hungry person giving description on Shadrasa of the meal/sumptuous meal day and night, instead of this, the person who had a simple meal without giving a description of it would be far more contented. Therefore, the knowledge in various Shastras and Puranas achieved without the Athmajjana/knowledge of self, Paramathma Parambhramam reside as soul, oneness-in-all, won’t help the Jeeva to cross the ocean of worldly existence. Oh! Tulsidas, the Athmajjana, /knowledge of self, the knowledge of all-pervasive Bramham resides as the soul is the source of the functioning of the mind, intellect, Ahamkara, Chiththa, Karma, Gnanendhriyas, the knowledge of Jeevathma is  Paramathma who is indestructible Purusha would remove the illusion and impurities of the mind. Otherwise, the ignorant Jeeva hurl into different Yonis, takes several births, and undergo sufferings and sorrows of worldly existence.”

Sri Vinaya Pathrika – Sri Tulsidas Maharaj – The significance of Bhakti, Gnana, Vairagya – Bhrama Sathyam Jagath Mithya

Chapter -68 -Sri Vinaya Patrika  - The significance of Bhakthi, Gnana, Vairagya – Bhrama Sathyam Jagath Mithya

Sri Tulsidas Maharaj speaks “ Oh! Hari, how did I get freed from the illusion? I have the wrong perception that the Universe and its living and non-living things are Sath/indestructible, I have the wrong perception that all the material matters and people are permanent, pure, and soothing. Oh! Prabho, the eternal truth is that there is nothing permanent in this Universe, neither material matters nor people, even though why I am getting drawn to the fleeting nature of Samsara? Why I am reluctant to leave interest in worldly matters and bondage, Ahamkara and Mamakara, attachment to Shabdha, Sparsha, Roopa, Rasa, Gandha? Why I am compelled to believe that the Universe and its living and non-living things are indestructible, comfortable, and truthful, even though it is utterly unbelievable? Why I am not leaving the interest in worldly matters and bondage, Ahamkara, Mamakara, and the impurities of the mind? Oh! Bhagavan, Bhakti, Gnana, Vairagya is the superior tool to cure the Vishayavisharoopi Samsara, but why I have born greedy and insatiable, always earning for material welfare and bodily pleasures? I think those Sadhaks who are practicing the Bhakti, Gnana, Vairagya also not free from the yearning for worldly matters and bondage. Oh! Prabho, this Samsaroopi night has put everyone to sleep, except the Virakthathma, Bhramajjani, and Athmajjani who have achieved your perpetual grace. Oh! Prabho, I am horrified of my immoral deeds, even after all these you have been so kind to me. The unfortunate Jeeva who has no line of luck drawn on its forehead due to lack of piousness in the previous births spends the whole life yearning for happiness. Oh! Prabho, I have not earned any piousness in the several births, like the person who lacks hands yearning to draw looking at the beautiful portrait. Oh! Prabho, I have not undertaken any Tapasya, Sadhana, Japa, austerities, Swadhyaya, Athmavichra, even though I yearn to achieve the Paramagathi. Oh! Hrishikesh, you are the Lord of Indhriyas, I have great faith in you, I am Tulsidas, drenched in the material matters and people, attached to Shabdha, Roopa, Rasa, Sparsha and, Gandha, kindly remove the impurities and interest in worldly matters and bondage in me.”

Sri Tulsidas Maharaj continues “Oh! Hari, why don’t you remove my false perception and illusion? I have considered the material matters, richness, wealth, money, fame, and attachment to family, children, wife, relatives, and companion are permanent, and whenever they get lost, I hurl myself into deep suffering and distress. Oh! Prabho, the eternal truth is that the Jagath is Mithya and Bhramam is Sathyam.  The supreme Bhramam resides as the soul is indestructible Purusha, pure, unblemished, free from afflictions, eternal, changeless, has neither birth nor death. The Universe and its living and non-living things undergo constant transformation and ruin. Oh! Prabho, I have understood Shareera – Dhan – Puthradhi have impermanent nature/fleeting, are not real. Oh! Prabho, even though, I am not getting detached from the above-mentioned Mayajanitha Ahamkara and Mamakara. I have been fastened myself with the Shareera – Dhan – Puthradhi due to my ignorance and insatiable desire. I have been suffering from the Mayajanitha Moha, like the person who had a dream of extreme body pain getting assistance from the physician, the pain and sufferings continue to be with him until he gets out of sleep, as soon as he awakes all those miseries becomes unreal. In the same manner, the Paramarththa Thaththva/knowledge of self, indestructible Purusha, and the destructible Prakrithi, only remove the sufferings and sorrows of worldly existence. Oh! Prabho, I am suffering from the Mayajanitha Moha illusion, I am confident that the knowledge of Paramarththa of material matters and people have fleeting nature, the Parmathma Paramambhramam resides as a soul in the Jeeva is eternal would remove my Mahamoha. The Veda, scriptures, Santh, Guru, Smrithi strongly recommend that the infinite Nama Roopa Dhrishya in the Universe are illusion/Mithya, and has fleeting nature like in the Swapnavastha/dream, therefore the attachment on the impermanent Prakrithi/material matters and people hurl the Jeeva into constant miseries and sorrow. The liberation from the sorrow and grief of Samsara is impossible unless and until the Jeeva achieve the knowledge of Paramarththa Thaththva, with the practice of Bhakti, Gnana, Vairagya. The Dhukharoopi Samsara hurls the Jeeva into constant miseries and finally into the vicious cycles of rebirth, it is impossible to get rid of the grief of Samsara without the practice of Dhaya, Sathyam, Shaucham, Shama, Dhama, Swadhyaya, Athmavichara, Bhakti, Gnana, and Vairagya. Oh! Tulsidas, the Universe, and its living and non-living things are an illusion, have fleeting nature, and unreal, the ignorant get attached to those infinite Nama Roopa Dhrishya and hurl into the vicious cycles of rebirth, therefore it is certain that it is impossible to get rid of the Mohajanitha Samararoopi Vishyavisha without the devotion at the lotus feet of Raghunath, and association with the Santh, Mahathma, noble-souls and selfless service to them.”

Sri Vinaya Patrika – Sri Tulsidas Maharaj – Sharanagathi to get rid of Sarparoopi Samsara – Sarvam Bhramamayam

Chapter -67 -Sri Vinaya Patrika  - Sharanagathi to get rid of Sarparoopi Samsara – Sarvam Bhramamayam

Sri Tulsidas Maharaj speaks “Oh! Hari, you are flawless, I have committed various sins, hence I am a grave sinner, I have been chasing for material welfare and bodily pleasure during day and night, have accumulated wealth, possession, money, richness, fame, and attached to children, wife, relatives, and companion, in this way, I have driven afar from the Paramathma resides as a soul in me, I did not practice any austerities, Japa, Tapa, Sadhana, Swadhyaya, Athmavichara, Shamadhamadhi, Dhaya, Sathyam, Shaucham, Dhanam, etc. Therefore, I am certain that I cannot desire Moksha not even in my dreams. Oh! Prabho, my Indhriyas were never been restraint, they are Anarththaroopi/trap, easily get attached to Shabdha/sounds, Sparsha/touch, Roopa/appearance, Rasa/taste, Gandh/smell, etc. the ignorant Jeeva who has no control over these senses, get overthrown into the deep well of darkness. Oh! Prabho, I am completely driven insane by the infinite Nama Roopa Dhrishya, like the dog and donkey, due to my ignorance, always been engaged in immoral activities and never been thought of my goodness. The impurities of Kama, Krodha, Lobha, Moha, Madha, and Mathshcharya are enemies of the Jeeva, I am drenched in impurities, hence there is no one inferior than me. Oh! Bhagavan, the Veda, and Purana highly eulogizes your virtues and glories, you are all-pervasive Bhrmamam resides as a soul in the Jeeva, you perform various amusements for the welfare of the Jeeva, I am a Vivekaheena soaked in Papakarma hence I am not able to envision you. Oh! Karunanidhan, I am an ocean of sins, you are Antharyami, the knower of all. Oh! Lord of Garuda, I have bitten by the venomous Sarparoopi Samsara, this Tulsidas have taken shelter at your lotus feet, the venomous serpent of Samsara cannot withstand before your celestial vehicle Garuda, kindly shower your compassion upon me.”

Sri Tulsidas Maharaj speaks “Oh! Hari, I have not performed any austerities, Shamadhamadhi, Swadhyaya, Athmavichara, etc. all my Sadhanas were mere show off as the teeth of an elephant, that has no use for the elephant. The elephant teeth will not give any assistance to chew its meal, it remains as a decorative piece forever, in the same manner, my Karma/deeds were mere show off, that has no use for myself. Oh! Prabho, I am not following anything that I preach, If I started following them, I would have crossed the unfathomable ocean of worldly existence easily, I am not following anything that I preach, my practices and lectures are too different, then how can I expect to achieve your lotus feet or Paramapadham? The peacock is stunningly beautiful, it has a beautiful voice like nectar, and attractive feathers, alas! it takes pleasure in consuming venomous serpent, I have been following the same, my lectures and disciplines were diverse. Oh! Raghuveer, you get pleased with the people who are kind and honest, you are beloved of Santh, Mahathma, noble-souls, who are freed from impurities of Kama, Krodha, Lobha, Moha, Madha, and Mathshcharya, they have no interest in worldly matters or bondage, freed from Ahamkara and Mamakara. They take immense pleasure in the contemplation and meditation of your lotus feet, they are extremely courageous freely wander all over the Earth, have nothing to lose or nothing to gain, they envision the all-pervasive supreme Bhramam/Sarvam Bhramamayam in whatever they have witnessed. Oh! Prabho, Tulsi is Gunaheena, how can I please you? Oh! Raghunath, I have realized that I am drenched in worldly matters and bondage, lack of virtues, so deserved to be in the Samsara, but you are the ocean of mercy, how could you leave this Tulsi in the unfathomable ocean of Samsara? Sri Vinaya Patrika – Sri Tulsidas Maharaj – Bhramavidhya is Bhramanandham

Chapter -66 -Sri Vinaya Patrika  - Bhramavidhya is Bhramanandham

Sri Tulsidas Maharaj speaks “Oh! Madhava, how did I get relieved from the shackles of desires and lust? Alas! even after performing crores of Sadhanas like austerities, celibacy, silence, Shama, Dhama, Sathyam, Dhaya, Swadhyaya, Athmavichara, etc.  the desire for material welfare and attachment to people, Ahamkara and Mamakara, lust and desires are not declining, it is deep-rooted, finding it difficult to get destroyed, and one thing I have understood clearly that as long as my desire and lust like Avidhya Maya does not get destroyed, the realization of self and the knowledge of all-pervasive Paramathma Parambhramam is impossible to achieve. The austerities, Swadhyaya, Shamadhamadhi, observance of celibacy, silence, Athmavichara will not remove the lust and desires if the Sadhana was not undertaken sincerely, the observance of austerities, the performance of religious and spiritual rites becomes mere show off, definitely it will not remove the impurities of the mind or provide serenity. The cleansing physical body with the expensive ingredients or decorating it with highly fragrant and attractive ingredients will not remove the impurities of Kama, Krodha, Lobha, Moha, Madha, Mathshcharya, is a futile effort as attacking the snake inside the pit, will not work even if you try all the possible methods. The mind and intellect are completely polluted by the infinite Nama Roopa Dhrishya in the Universe, it is not easy to erase or purify it. Oh! Tulsi, the grace of the supreme Lord and preceptor only could remove the false perception and enlighten the Jeeva with the knowledge of Bramham/Bhramavidhya, there is no other way to cross the unfathomable ocean of worldly existence.”

Sri Tulsidas Maharaj continues “ Oh! Madhava, your Maya is so powerful, difficult to obstruct without your compassion and kindness. Oh! Prabho, heard of your powerful Maya, contemplating upon you, and determined not to get trapped in your Maya and creating awareness among the people not to get trapped in your Maya, alas! it is impossible to understand the real nature of your Maya, until and unless the Jeeva achieve the knowledge of all-pervasive Bramham resides as a soul/Paramathma, the knowledge of self, by the time your Maya Mohjanitha Samsara might have swamped the Jeeva with endless troubles and grief. Oh! Prabho, the Bhramavidhya, knowledge of all-pervasive Bhramam is nectar provides the serenity of mind, removes redundant thoughts, if the Jeeva had the opportunity to take the taste in Bhramanandharoopi nectar then they won’t take pleasure in Mrigathrishna, Samsararoopi trap or wander all over chasing material welfare or bodily pleasure, like whoever has the possession of Chinthamani/precious gem do not wander around in search of glass pieces. The Jeeva who have achieved the knowledge of all-pervasive Bhramam reside as a soul, do not get trapped into the Vishayaroopi Samsara.  The Bhramavidhya removes the illusion, imparts the eternal truth that all those infinite Nama Roopa Dhrishya in the Jagrathavastha has fleeting nature as in the Swapnavastha. The practice of Gnana, Bhakti, Vairagya, and all those Sadhanas remove the impurities and illusion of the Jeeva. But, Tulsidas firmly believes that the ignorance gets destroyed only with the grace of Lord Sri Hari, the Bhagavath Kripa is Paramasadhana, and unquestionably it is equally distributed among the living and non-living things in the Universe, all that we need to have faith in it.”

Sri Vinaya Pathrika – Sri Tulsidas Maharaj – Oh! Antharyami, I am Dheena/pathetic, you are Dhayalu/kind-hearted – I am your slave and you are my Master

Chapter -65 -Sri Vinaya Patrika  - Oh! Antharyami, I am Dheena/pathetic, you are Dhayalu/kind-hearted – I am your slave and you are my Master

Sri Tulsidas Maharaj speaks “Oh! Madhav, why don’t you shower your compassion upon me? You are Sharagatha Rakshaka, it is your vow to protect whoever taken shelter at your lotus feet, and I have taken a vow to meditate and contemplate upon your lotus feet in all my life. The situation is I cannot leave hold of your lotus feet, and you are Pranathapalaka, you cannot abandon the Jeeva who have taken shelter at your lotus feet, then why you don’t want to look at me? Oh! Prabho, I am Dheena/distressed and you are Dhayalu/kind-hearted, I am your slave and but you haven’t become my Master, I have not uttered a single word of the sufferings, agonies, pain, and afflictions that I have gone through in the Samsara, because you are Antharyami, you are all-pervasive supreme Bhramam resides as a soul in the Jeeva, you are the knower of all. I have made a firm relationship with the Antharyami Bhagavan, Oh! Prabho, you are benevolent, and I am pauper, you are PathithaPavan and I am Pathitha/distressed, the Veda highly eulogizes your virtues, Oh! Raghunath, I have several relationships with you, after all these, how could you abandon me? I have made several relationships as my mother, father, preceptor, companion, relative, and Master, therefore I have no one other than you. Oh! Bhagavan, I do not want to get trapped in the dark well of Dhvandhabhava, all I am seeing you in everything and everyone, you are omnipresent, you are the knower of all, you are that Paramathma Parambhramam resides as a soul in the Jeeva, you are the essence of the Universe and the living and non-living things, therefore, there is nothing other than you in this Universe, I envision the all-pervasive Parambhramam, it gives me Paramanandha/supreme bliss. Oh! Kamalanayan, your compassionate grace would remove the fear and anxieties of Samsara, Oh! Nath, this Ajjanaroopi darkness in the Tulsidas cannot get removed without your Jjanaroopi brilliance, It won’t go away until I envision your magnificent form, kindly remove the darkness of ignorance in me.”

Sri Tulsidas Maharaj continues “Oh! Madhav, there is no one in the Samsara who is Pathitha, Sadhanaheen/absent from the Shamadhamadhi, austerities, Japa, Thapa, Swadhyaya, Athmavichara, etc., distressed, destitute, and Papi/sinner like me. I have drenched in the interest in worldly matters and bondage, body and I consciousness/Ahamkara and Mamakara, impurities of Kama, Krodha, Lobha, Moha, Madha, and Mathshcharya. Oh! Prabho, there is no other deity as compassionate and kind as you, to forget and forgive all the sins of the worshiper, and shower compassionate grace upon them. You have abandoned the stately pleasure in the supreme abode Sri Vaikunda and personified on the Earth for the welfare of the Jeeva, you have abandoned the Sacchidhanandaroop Vaikunda to remove the sufferings of the Jeeva, you have personified on the Earth and set an example of Dhaya, Karuna, Sathyam, Shamam, Dhamam, Shaucham, Arjjavam, Thithiksha, etc. who can do such sacrifice like you? Your nobility and kindness multiply my grief, Oh! Kripalu, what was the reason you are not pleased with me? Oh! Prabho, there is no fault in you, it was my sins that made you abandon me, you have given me the rarest birth as a human with intellect on the expectation that I would utilize the body and mind to elevate my soul. Alas! I have been chasing the material and bodily pleasure all my life, and kept you afar from me, I have thrown myself into the deep dark well of Samsara and kept attachment with people and wealth that has temporary nature, eventually, I have lost both. I have been Vivekashoonya and Bhakthiheena. Oh! Hari, I have been hard as a rock, but you are too kind and pleasant always. Oh! Prabho, I have realized that the Moharoopi shackle cannot get broken without your grace, I Tulasidas have taken shelter at your lotus feet to get rid of the shackles of worldly matters and bondage.”

Sri Vinaya Patrika – Sri Tulsidas Maharaj – Bhrama Sathyam Jagath Mithya - ‘Jeevathma is Paramathma’

Chapter -64 -Sri Vinaya Patrika  - Bhrama Sathyam Jagath Mithya -  ‘Jeevathma is Paramathma’

Sri Tulsidas Maharaj speaks “Oh! Keshav, what shall I speak? I am not able to utter anything. Oh! Hari, after seeing the various states of mind and the nature of living and non-living things, I have understood them as your amusements. Oh! Bhagavan, your Rachana/creation of Universe and its living of non-living things, Samsararoopi portrait, drawn by the painter/ invisible Paramathma Parambhramam Sacchidhanandha Swaroopa, drawn on the wall of Maya/Shoonya without any colors, mere with your Sankalpa. Oh! Prabho, the ordinary portrait can be erased easily, but the portrait of Samsaroopi Chithra of Mahamayavi cannot be erased unless and unless the devotion and love at the lotus feet of Lord Sri Ramachandra. The ordinary portraits are lifeless, have no fear of death or birth, the Jeeva in the Samsaroopi Chithra is constantly alarmed by aging, illness and death. In this Samsararoopi Chithra, there are endless miseries, sorrows, agonies, pain and sufferings, the ordinary portraits are pleasing to eyes, but the Ghoraroopi Samsara creates intense trepidations in the Jeeva. The Mriga Thrishna like Samsara, the presence of water created by the reflection of the Sun in the desert cannot quench the thirst of the Jeeva, although the ignorant Jeeva chases after them and gets disappointed, this Mrigathrishnaroopi Samsara neither quench the thirst nor give serenity.  Surprisingly, the Jeeva chases after the material pleasures, wealth, possession, richness, money, fame, attachment to wife, children, relatives, and companions are nothing but Mrigathrishna, even after battered by the sufferings, pain of separation, loss of wealth and beloved, the Jeeva does not stop chasing for them. Oh! Prabhu, some people call the Universe and its infinite Nama Roopa Dhrishya is Mithya, some people call it real, and some call it the mixture of the both. I Tulsidas strongly oppose them all, and call the Universe and its infinite Nama Roopa Dhrishya are “Bhrama’/illusion, it is the creation of all-pervasive Paramathma Parambhramam and all those Nama Roopa Dhrishya is his amusement, whoever understands this eternal truth would achieve the knowledge of self, the eternal truth is ‘Jeevathma is Paramathma”.

Sri Tulsidas Maharaj continues “Oh! Keshav, Oh! Prabhu, what I did to you? Why did you keep me far from you? What was my sin to abandon? Oh! Bhagavan, if you are feeling I am wicked and sinful, why did you elevate the impure Ajamila, Valmiki Ganika, Gajendra? Or do you have any special relationship with them? Hence it is clear that you are not only beloved of Santh Mahathma noble-souls who sincerely follow the duties prescribed in the Veda, and follow Varnnashrama, and perform religious and spiritual rites, undertake austerities, Shamadhamadhi, Swadhyaya, Athmavichara, etc. You are compassionate and kind to even the Pathitha. Oh! Hari, I am helpless, my Kala/time, Karma/deeds, Sugathi, Dhurgathi etc. is vested in your hands. Oh! Prabho, kindly destroy my Ahamkara and Mamakara, so that I do not chase for material welfare, and attachment to people and wealth, so that I won’t wander all over the world, leaving your Nama Smaran and lotus feet. If you abandon me, it won’t make any difference to me, I promise you, I will always engage in the remembrance and recitation of your sacred names, I have promised to myself that I do not take shelter in anyone other than you if you send me to Swarga or Naraka it won’t make me any difference at all.  Oh! Raghunath, I have an appeal to you, with mind, words, and deeds, Oh! Nath, it was not a wise deed to question your compassion, sometimes I get disappointed to see your callousness, hence I had to make sharp comments on you.”
